Dark Souls II - Now Playing
Kevin VanOrd fires up Dark Souls II in an "Ask Me Anything" style episode of Now Playing. Prepare to DIE!

Interesting. This play through is showcasing one of the BIGGEST complaints I have for this game, aside from removing the dynamic lighting of course, and that is that hit detection is a NIGHTMARE in this game!
I cant seem to seek past the 50m mark or so... Everything before there is fine but after that it just kills the video player and resets the playmark to 00:00.
oh my, the moonlight greatsword makes its appearance once again... though the way to get it this time doesn't seem very nice >.>
Q. are there starting gifts at the beginning of the game? and is the pendant from the original dark souls in this game as well?
Question: Hey Kevin, how do you find navigating to be this time around? Dark souls did have a lot of hidden areas and areas that could not even be found on your first playthrough I.E. Painted World of Arimais or The Great Hollow. Are there still hidden areas such as these making the world seemingly intertwined or does majula act as more of a hub I.E. Demons Souls?
Still taking your questions everyone. Just make sure you put Question or Q in front so I can get it to Kevin and Carolyn.
Q:How in-depth is the combat system because I saw a game play where when you block and then attack it has its own animation combat
Q: Kevin why the color of your character hair looks like Woody Woodpecker? Doesn't seem to fit the mood of Dark Souls. :P
Q: Does the torch mechanic seem a bit pointless now that the game is much brighter than the earlier demos?
Still taking your questions everyone. Just make sure you put Question or Q in front so I can get it to Kevin and Carolyn. :)
Q: Can you speak to the ability to refill spells for sorcery users without resting at a bonfire? When leveling in Dark Souls it was somewhat difficult for magic users early because of the limited spell use.
Q: Kevin V, why didn't you criticize the game for having distinctly worse graphics and framerate than the previous games in the series?
Q: I know people are speaking about visual downgrade. Do you think the game looks same/better/worse than the first one.
Q: Would you recommend this game to someone who has never played Dark Souls or should they go back and play Dark Souls first?
@TheLeftHandDoom that lady by the bonfire is where you level up now
@evolate A lot of the lighting seems to have been downgraded, sadly.
@Animal-Mother so much text :p
@DigitalDame take mine?
@Jeremiah1234567 Great question, it's getting asked. :)
@Jeremiah1234567 YES! Great question!
@GambitK Specifically, they're saying it's a distinct visual downgrade to what we were shown in trailers up to 2 months ago on how the game would look. It's probably on par with Dark Souls, but much worse than what we were shown.
@darklord1294 Kevin mentioned earlier that there's no content reason to do so. But the original Dark Souls is pretty amazing so you should still play it.
@robertle519 it's rated T...
@wrestlemaniaw It's in the queue. :)
@Animal-Mother Nah, I'll get him to answer as asked.
