It looks just like any other generic first person shooter being crapped out. How many fps's do we need?
This game look very special indeed. It has the open world activities of the excellent Far Cry 3 and it has an Uncharted feel to the graphics. They pitched it perfectly by not straying too far from the perfection of Far Cry 3, while adding some really nice features for the new game. I guess that satisfies everyone. Really nice so it's now pre-ordered for sure.
Playing the open world in coop will be amazing. I'm hoping they still have those coop multiplayer story missions like Far Cry 3. They were great fun and quite long considering there were 6 of them. The variety between each mission was nicely spread. I really liked the four coop characters. You warmed to them over time and eventually grew to like them a lot. Nice humour in there as well that still makes you chuckle every time you replay it.
I also heard that Ubi are putting out feelers whether to bring a coop survival mode to FC4 later on as DLC and want feedback. Well I'm definitely onboard for that one because you can have endless fun doing coop survival with a mate. I'm still playing Uncharted 3 coop arena every night. I prefer coop survival to PVP multiplayer because PVP always ends up a free for all with everyone doing their own thing dancing around an enclosed map area with repetitious spawning, whereas coop survival tends to be a more strategic affair that creates a bond between the players as you cover each others back. I would definitely buy that DLC and play it a lot if well implemented.
The hud, enemy indicators, and awareness indicators being exactly the same as far cry 3 is a lazy misstep. You've created an entire new world, with a new story, and a talented voice actor for a villain. Please don't make it so easy for people to remember your mechanics are hardly changed. That's not necessarily bad, but people don't like feeling like they've paid for a new game only to re experience an old one. Haha, I see the call of duty joke coming :P
Anyone in the PC modding community can make Far Cry 3 look like Far Cry "4".
What a rip off....
They took a page right out of the Call of Duty Copy-and-Paste handbook.......
Ultimately it looks like one more FPS that largely forces you into stealth, plus the gimmick of animals being present. Been there and done that a thousand times.
Elephants are majestic, but pretty scary when i saw them destroy my friends village and her family and friends had to rebuild everything from scratch, and block our road on our way back home from Siliguri to Alipurduar, so we had to turn off the lights and sit in silence and wait for all them to go away. I was lucky enough to ride them and hundreds years old tortoises as a child :D
okay i might be a little catching up to do since I never played far cry games, but what do they mean by original far cry 4 gameplay? is there a duplicate far cry 4 out there that I do not know about?
I liked far cry 3 on the x360... Not sure I finished it though.... Got a ps4... will probably get this.
Wow, so many people bitching about it not being "originl enough". What could they possibly add to the sequel to make it more original? You guys don't even know what you want on far cry 4, do you want to turn it into a tactical RTS to make it "original enough"?
Far cry 3 worked, fo course they are going to leave many things as they were and add more content.
Whoa! in the Shangri-La section he's speaking Hindi. :)
Also, they have so many things recycled, that it seems like I'm playing FC3 in a different setting. Why Ubi? Why?
Such a boring game.really who is gonna play it?I only interested in coop without a game copy, still don't think anyone of my friends gonna buy it,me neither:)
God Ubisoft are lazy f*ckers. They make a successful game and then the next 19 sequels are the same EXACT thing with a different coat of paint.
I'm seeing too much recycled/borrrowed mechanics in this game.
The weapon selection wheel is identical to the one used in Splinter Cell: Blacklist.
And that little white bar that indicates an enemy is looking at you is the very same thing used in Blacklist.
Conclusion: NOT IMPRESSED!!!
This game looks great and I'm really excited for it, but I'm seeing a lot of recycled animations from FC3 and that's a little disappointing. Climbing, skinning animals, using a health syringe, etc are all identical animations to FC3, don't be lazy Ubisoft.
It's not lazy at all to keep the hud, enemy indicators and awareness indicators. If something is perfect you build on it and add new layers, you don't scrap it totally and employ something new that is not as good. You only totally scrap something if it did not turn out very good.
You are so wrong and will be proved so if you actually buy it and play it. No-one in their right mind can ever say Far Cry is anything like COD. It's an extremely simplistic view your offering up. This looks like all the best stuff from Far Cry 3 with a load of new stuff added to make it an even better adventure, such as the added verticality.
Forces stealth? Stealth is reality. You won't last long in the real world if you keep running in like Rambo. Far Cry has always differentiated itself from the likes of COD run and gun, by being more realistic and strategic with the emphasis on survival.
You need to stop playing computer games because your growing tired of all the tools of the trade. You'll be saying it's just like all other games soon, because you spend a lot of time shooting people with a gun in the game. Time for you to retire from gaming.
@youre_a_sheep If you put it like that; then yea, it doesn't sound fun. But i think it looks fun in the video and remain excited to play it when it's released. Try to be more positive and you might end up enjoying it.
Definitely need more run and gun FPS's like CoD...
The essence of Far Cry that runs through all the games in the series is one of survival with you drawn into a conflict as a loan wolf. You always end up a skilled bad ass taking on everybody like a one man army using cool toys. You always have a wide range of tools and ways to play that can be adapted to suite your preferred play style, but stealth always plays a big part because the battles are not scripted and require that you think on your feet and be creative, employing real world survival techniques. That is what they mean by the original Far Cry gameplay.
@crusaderprophet Original, as in not footage borrowed from another site.
@fluffy_puppy666 "What could they possibly add to the sequel to make it more original?"
Developers who can't answer that question should be in a different line of work. Gaming is the one medium where if you can imagine it then it can happen, there's zero excuse to serve up the same thing on a different backdrop.
The HUD is perfect. Most modders are just amateur butchers who are wannabe game developers that think they know better. They usually end up adding lots of weight to a game making it unplayable on anything but the most powerful hardware in a cheap attempt to upgrade the quality with no concern for optimisation.
What is wrong with the HUD?
@ginobili1 Yeah I feel the same way. I loved Far Cry 3, but this honestly looks like Far Cry 3 with a fresh coat of paint over it.. I'm going to keep an eye on it and see if it's much different.
Same boring game? Far Cry 3 was far from boring. You're the one who is boring with your short attention span attitude. Far Cry is all about freedom and fun gameplay. We make the story by our actions. I'll be playing the game that's who, and you won't. Sorted. Let's move on.
@ibonedyourmom Yeah I was so annoyed when I found out they didn't change it to a turn-based third person strategy title with a flesh-eating midget protagonist trying to topple an army of hookers.
Are you blind? Oh your snow blind.
@Sindroid But you can throw meat pieces! OMG!!! First DLC comes out with throwable poo!!!
Actually i would call it a far cry 3.7 since it does add a lot of content and new mechanics. But even if it was far cry 3 on snow, how could it be a bad thing? Far cry 3 is awesome, more of it wouldn't hurt anyone.
If the previous game was perfect then it would be bust if they changed too much. You do agree that Far Cry 3 was perfect do you not? It's like a game engine. When a game engine becomes so good that it's a perfect replica of real life, then there is no need to upgrade it any further, you just make all the new games based in the game engine's world, but set them in different locations with a different story.
Something new does not automatically equate as better. Fashion makes good use of that misconception.
@PinchySkree dont try to fix what aint broke. They have a good formula IMO. Now just add a good story and a few new features.
@kishona Uh, you do know the white bar indicator was present in far cry 3 right? Does it really shock you that it's also in far cry 4?
@anab0lic when a weapon is accurately recreated to replicate an actual gun, what do you expect? That's what the iron sights look like so that's how it looks in game.
@dmblum1799 Seriously? Far cry 2 is tedious once you get over the nice visuals/setting but 3 is great imo. What would you consider an awesome fps then, that is not in your words "middling"?
@dmblum1799 FC3 is really worth checking out. Interesting story, and excellent gameplay. Definitely worth a play though.
I agree, keep the same systems and improve upon them, but at least freshen up the aesthetic. Another example: battlefield 3 ui being barely distinguishable from 4. It lessens the impact of a new game when it looks too similar
The devs are definitely in the right job. They are doing an excellent job. Far Cry 4 looks superb and offers up some cool new features. Far Cry is a series that follows a specific theme that defines the genre. The game sticks to that theme but adds lots of ingenious ways to play within that theme. If the theme is not for you, then go play something else. Far Cry could not be changed to something else otherwise it would not be the Far Cry which the fans love. You are obviously not a fan so you're wasting your time asking for it to change to turn it into something else.
lol yeah these guys just don't get it. Far Cry is a genre. If you change it too much, it isn't Far Cry anymore so you may as well just play something else. These guys are like saying "damn racers, they always have cars racing on linear roads with twisty bends, why don't they change and be more creative with guns on the cars and allow you to get out of the car so you can run around and shoot people." Those games exist and they are not racers. It's not the racer that's wrong, it's them not liking racers. You either like the Far Cry genre or you don't.
