The best car combat game ever made. Period.

Twisted Metal 2. If I had $5 for every hour my best friend and I spent playing this game years back, I probably wouldn't need to have a job right now. This is one of the most addicting games I have ever played. After all who doesn't love driving around in a car armed to the teeth with missiles and machine guns blasting anything that moves. It's so simple but extremely effective.

One of my favorite things about this game is how easy it is to pick up. Just 5-10 minutes of tinkering with the controls and you're ready to dive in and cause mayhem. My only real gripe is the car handling. They all seem to drive like boats. It's an inconvenience but it's easily overlooked. You'll probably be having too much fun blasting your enemies to notice it.

All the levels are excellent, but there are a few that really stand out. Namely Antarctica where you're fighting on top of an iceberg that is slowly breaking apart. Believe me there is nothing more satisfying that freezing an enemy on a piece of falling ice and watching them plummet to their watery grave. Holland (my personal favorite level) is another standout. It is the smallest level in the game but it is also the level that can have the most enemies. It's basically just a completely open field with almost no places to take cover. Only the toughest and the craftiest will survive.

The sounds in this game, while not the best, are still pretty good. The explosions are loud and booming and the screams your opponents make when they explode into a huge fireball are hilarious. But for me the soundtrack is what really stands out on the audio side. It's composed completely of hard rock with some heavy metal sprinkled in for good measure. The perfect kind of music to get you in the mood to destroy something.

As much fun as this game is on singleplayer, it's when you get some friends together that the fun factor increases ten fold. You'll definitely spend hours playing deathmatches with your friends. Or fighting against each other isn't your thing, you and your friend can team up and play through tournament mode together. The only downside being that you get to see one the hilarious ending movies when you finish. The multiplayer factor of this game will definitely keep you coming back for more.

Twisted Metal 2 has easily proved itself to be one of the best PS1 games out there. It has stood the test of time and remains one of my favorite games. It's a real shame that after this masterpiece, 989 Studios almost killed the Twisted Metal series.

As the mighty Calypso would say, I am Soul_Bleed and I thank you for reading my Twisted Metal 2 review. *laughs maniacally*
