User Rating: 9.3 | Turok 2: Seeds of Evil N64
An awe inspiring world of adventure that pushed the N64 to its limits; one of the rare sequels that lives up to the hype. Even today in the 21st century with a bit of spare money, any FPS fan would find its still worth a purchase including buying an N64.

You, Turok, take on the challenge of saving the people from the Dinosoids that are controlled by the Primagen. It will be your task to save the five Energy Totems, beginning with the Port of Adia, a beautiful town. Not the most original idea, but it will do.

You become immersed in a superb environment that entices you to play on for ever. This is done with great graphics & great sounds effects which add to the ambiance. The environments are superbly rendered, but the Dinosoids seem less real with the blocky trapezoid shapes which look odd; you soon forget this as their movement are spot on. The enemy AI is far better than other games of its time, whereby they will only react when they see you, duck for cover and zig-zag their way towards you – much harder to shoot.

As you're reading this, please see the Images page for this game, you'll see they were great for thier day.

The levels are massive and keep you occupied for many hours. There are many different worlds to explore and the change helps keep you interested. First time playing this game the levels seem too large, but upon your second time of completing the game, you soon realise the level sizes are perfect - this is why you pay good money for a game like this.

Some levels are so large and familiar that you could get lost, and becomes tiresome when you need to get to a different level. You also need a note book or good memory if you haven’t got a guide as some places are points to come back to much later (one very frustrating weak point). You may wish to find a guide as some objectives are unclear at first – or simply ask on the Forums.

The only let down I can think of in the story mode is the great distance you must travel before finding the next save point. You can easily become lost on some levels, becoming frustrated. Cheats will only spoil this game for you, you can do without. (Again, your second attempt at completing the game, you realise its worth going back a few 100 yards to a save portal, as it doesnt take as long as you think).

Because the levels are so huge and go all over the place (mazey), the game does not feel linear - which is great !!!

Weapons are VERY cool and plentiful; innovative design allows you to stock up on ammo and health at regenerating points. There are a few bloody death styles for each enemy, and decapitation is a one shot kill.

Controls are tricky at first, using C buttons to walk, but you will become accustomed. Aiming with the joystick makes you a perfect shot and you can practice by shooting the birds in the sky (yes they’re not just scenery).

Multiplayer is a simple add onto the game which provides a bit of fun with your friends (not bots) but serious slow-down can irritate.

Should you buy this game, you will need a save-pack with 90 pages spare. Should you wish to improve frame-rate, only a factor during multiplayer, you can use an expansion pack.

A collectors choice!
