A very fun game to play

User Rating: 7.5 | Trapt PS2
This action adventure game is the latest installment by Tecmo. Trapt is a combination of survival and strategy type of gameplay. Although this kind of gameplay isnt very new at all. This game is part of a series known as Kagero: Deception, which saw three games on the Playstation. While some people may not even heard of those games, this game will offer something different and a new kind of experience.

The story focuses on our very sexy heroine, Princess Allura. The princess was framed for the murder of her father, the King, was force to leave the castle to escape those who want to kill her. As she escapes to the forest, a demon cast an evil spell on her and she suddenly become cursed, transforming her into a trap master. With this power, she must use it to revenge the death of her father and to take vengence to those who betrayed her.

The storyline is very amusing. But when it comes to the gameplay, thats where the fun really starts. As you already know this game is a combination of survival and strategy. As for the player, you must think the most evil and sadistic way to make the perfect trap fo your enemies. There are three categories in which these traps are classified. These are wall traps, ceiling traps and floor traps. Each of these traps has its own strenght and elements. They have charge time, meaning after you set it it will take some time before you can activate them. You can set these traps anywhere you like you must lure the enemy before activating it. When an enemy is within the range of a trap, hit the designated button for that trap and it will trigger it. If you time it right, the enemy will get some damage. There are many kinds of combinations you can create so that when you activate and hits the enemy it will deal even greater damage. Some of the enemies are really dumb and you can easilly lure them to your trap. But not all of them are dumb, some are immune to some traps and you can only damage hem by using a specifc trap. And that makes the game even more fun and challenging.

The graphics of the game are somehow nice. There is nothing special to it and its very similar to the graphics of the previous installments only that this time the graphics has been enhance so that it will not look bad for the Playstation 2. As for the characters, Allura herself is fairly well done. Her looks and costume really shows her as a princess seeking for vengence. The other characters have also nice looks but some of their facial expressions are really not that cool. The sound of the game is probably the biggest key of them all. Though the voices are all in japanese (there are english captions) it is still a very nice concept. The music on every level is very facinating and it gives excitement to every moment.

In the end, i would have to say Trapt is really a good game. Its very fun and also very amusing to play. The downside is that its very short and you cal almost replay the game as long as you want after you master the gameplay.
