User Rating: 8.2 | Tomb Raider GBC
Tomb Raider for the GBC stars adventurer Lara Croft. In the game, one of Lara's colleagues tells Lara of an arifact known as the Nightmare Stone which is used to seal the evil god quaxet in obelisk. He tells Lara to meet up with another adventurer, Illiat. However he is missing at the rendevous site, so Lara enters the pyramid. Gameplay- The gameplay in this game was good. Lara has pretty much all the moves that she has in the console Tomb Raider games. The gaemplay usually involve you pulling switches in a certain sequence and getting through the door to get to the next area. The problem is that you are not shown what door is opened and you can spend alot of time just looking for door you have opened. The enemy AI in the game is pretty dumb because all you have to do is shoot them from an area higher or lower than them. Graphics- The graphics in the game are great for a GBC game. The backgrounds are varied and just amazing to look at. The objects and enemies look good in the game. The areas that you explore are pretty detailed as well. Sound- There is not that much sound in the game. As a matter of fact, there are some areas where you are playing and you hear absolutely nothing but dead silence, not even a footstep. There is a small tune that plays at the start of each level that is a bit refreshing after completing a long and hard level but when you die it just gets annoying after a while. The bats sound annoying in this game and some sound is a bit cheesy but it gets the job done. Value- Unfortunately, there is not alot of replay value in it. It is still fun to pick it up and play it again but you really don't have to. There's nothing to be unlocked or nothing you need to see by playing the game again. Tilt- This game is an excellent game for the GBC. The story in the game is pretty interesting and you are shown little scenes of animation, such as when you pull a cretain switch or after beating a level. It's not a short game and requires thinking and memory. If you're a Tomb Raider fan, you'll probably love this game. The controls are a bit hard to use at first but once you take some time, you'll get used to it. If you're not a Tomb Raider fan you still may want to give this game a shot.
