As a die hard fan of the series, this is certainly a huge step above conviction.

Hard to believe I've been a fan of splinter cell since it came out 11 years ago in 02. That game introduced and made me become an instant fan of the stealth genre. Now for all you hardcore fans like myself, I'm sure the majority of us were disappointed with conviction more specifically the style of gameplay, moving from cover to cover, mark and execute, basically moving away from stealth and becoming a 3rd person shooter although there was still hope based on the fact that there was stealth still, just not the same raw style that we love. I understand the need to evolve in games and in order for companies to make money, they need to appeal to everyone. Blacklist in my honest opinion is able to appeal to both hardcore fans as well as new fans or guys who want to shoot everything. They brought back the old school gadgets such as sticky shockers, cameras, noisemakers, nightvision, ability to hide bodies, pace in which you want to move Sam in stealth mode, and ability to hide in the dark. I was extremely happy they did that. I am even more content that they now give the ability to be stealthy or combative and designed the levels so you can choose. There are many different ways to approach each level which is great for stealth. I am however disappointed that there are some parts where it seems like you need to mark and execute and it doesn't have that slow pace feel, it's like Sam got younger and improved is acrobatic skills. Sam also has a new voice and it's not too bad but again, just disappointing. The fact that the combat aspects that conviction brought in are still present but now optional doesn't bother me, but like I said it's not as raw feeling. I think this is the best us hardcore fans will get out of this series and it's definitely worth a playthrough or wait til the price drops if you're still skeptical.
