This game was instant hit for me. I had never tried 3D fighter jet games before having been stuck in 2D classics such as UN Squadron. I have to say its a big leap and an entertaining one. Hawx has a large number of different fighter planes to note is the ground enemy decimating A-10, twinkle toe agile F22 & F35, fast YF12 and super cool forward sweep wing SU-47 Berkut. The game has a lot of variety when it comes to selection of planes, about 50 planes and they have a lot of discernible differences which is very good. Some have fast locking, multi AG(air to ground) missiles which can lock onto 4 target at the same time, this can be very exhilarating when there are numerous ground targets. One thing i did not like was the dialog and game voice overs, they seem a bit unpolished and below par for a game of this caliber, they don't sound close enough to reality in respect to the game play. The game has great longevity that is you can continue to play it after you've finished it because of the planes yet to be unlocked and the achievement list is very challenging and fun to complete examples include one you have to fly upside down for a couple of minutes at less than 40 metres, not so easy. Online play is also very good especially the co-op missions. The lobby is always full so there's always someone else to play with. All in all not a bad game, i would put it as a classic for me, very playable, hard at first to master the controls but very addictive especially if you love fighter jets. The missions are challenging and give you a sense of panic when you've got a missile on your tail and alarm is blaring, SAM watch! SAM watch! Break right! 9 out of 10.
