The Saboteur is a game with so much potential but the broken stealth mechanics and the other flaws really drag it down

User Rating: 8.5 | The Saboteur PC
The long-awaited game from Pandemic(Run in Peace :( ) it's finally here and I put it to the test.
So you are Sean Devlin,a mysterious irishman who has arrived in Paris exactly at the wrong time,in the nazi occupation peroid.I didn't have much time to follow the story but The Saboteur did just a fine job with it.It's inriguing, full of originality and it gives another point of view among the World War 2.The streets will be crawling with nazis so the freedom is limited to the citizens of Paris. It's up to you to get rid of them.
You start in a pub from where you have to get out to meet your friend Luc.You sabotage a fuel depot and then you are free whatever you want in Paris,of course while not in a mission.
The game borrows elements from GTA,Assassin's Creed like the open-world gameplay or the ability to climb buildings like a hell of a monkey.
Sean is a guy with a lot of personality and is just a character that all the games should have.He is highly detailed and feels great to play.
The visuals themselves are great but there aren't innovative or something special just as good as they look. Also, did you notice that there's no anti-aliasing in the configurations? The anti-aliasing it's excluisvely for the PS3 and they are revolutionary because of the new technology called"Morphologicaly anti-aliasing" and it wipes out the others like Multi-sampling AA or QSAA.We talked about the story and the visuals now let's talk about the gameplay.
First of all the controls are sharp and they don't dissapoint even a single moment, despite the fact that the colision detection(especially when you are jumping towards a rope) is pretty awkard.
As I said he can climb the buildings and what it does it does very well.Shooting from the rooftops with a sniper rifle is just as fun as it sounds. Also,in order to take down the nazis you have at dispose a bunch of weapons starting from the old MP40,MP43.Kar98k to the unused-in-other-games:Steiner rifle.Weird huh?
And guess what they're fun to shoot but the gore effects are dissapointing and they are very annoying making the shooting, often to be avoided. The AI is a bit dissapointing, and the nazis are paranoic. But the stealth kills are repetitive after being used for a couple of hours.
Overall The Saboteur is enjoying and long-lasting but soetimes the game feels unfinished, which gives me a feeling that Pandemic studios didn't have too much time to finish. But you shouldn't miss this game at any cost, tough.
