A good Zelda game but it had some annoying, glaring problems.
It has a pretty decent story for the most part and I like the characters in it.
The dungeons were fun and had some very creative puzzles and they added some awesome new items like the Roc's Cape and Magnetic Gloves.
So why the low score? What went wrong? I would say the difficulty and the rings coupled with the "system-link" addition.
The system-link was made to make you buy both games and link with yourself or find a friend who had a game too and you share codes with each other. This would yield you really cool items like the Master Sword or Biggoron's Sword.
The unfortunate part is, not everyone has friends or two GBA's to link up the games.
This leaves you with no choice and not getting the Master Sword which I think should be a requirement in a Zelda game, not an extra you earn through a system link.
Furthermore, the ring's in the game are annoying. You pretty much need this ring called the Green Holy Ring which negates electrical attacks, to beat the final boss. The sad part is, this ring is only obtained randomly. Not only is that bad but it's random if you even find a ring, and then you have a 1:64 chance to get it when you find a ring to appraise and it will usually be a repeat and you get *GASP* 30 Rupee's! wow...
So yeah, this game almost forces you to cheat, I hate to admit it but I used a gameshark cheat at the very end because I was dissatisfied with the fact that I couldn't get the Master Sword and I spent hours trying to get a stupid random ring so I cheated to get that too.
The final boss was so hard that even with the new sword and ring I still had trouble, I ended up beating him with two hearts left after I used my health potion. So it was not easy.
BEST MOMENT: Getting the Magnetic Gloves, reversing polarity it becomes a new version of the hookshot. Very cool.
WORST MOMENT: The ring hunting, it makes you want to tear your hair out, also the boss difficulty was insane for some of them.
FINAL JUDGEMENT: Find a friend with the game if you can, do whatever you can to make this game easier on you. Playing it by yourself sucks and they basically have it set up to suck if you play it on your own. If you are playing it on your own I would just say cheat towards the end. You'll need the extra help and if you don't have the system-link then you'll just need to cheat to get your items. Buy this game cheap if you can.
