Oracle of Season is not for the light hearted. Casual players Beware!

I was completely new to 2D Zelda games recently and chose Oracle of Seasons as the second one I played. Coming off of Minish Cap Oracle of Seasons was much, much harder and a let down.

Game play is actually quite boring. The first dungeons are interesting enough but down the road their puzzles just get repetitive and boring. Most enemies are standard and I have no problem with them. Bosses however I hate. I can't even recall one I cared for and most took many attempts to beat.

Weapons are so so. Most are your standard weapons such as Slingshot, Sword, Shield, and feather. But they chose to leave bottles out of this game which makes no sense considering it was made ten years after A Link to the Past which did have bottles. So most boss battles are twice as hard considering you can only have around 16 hearts at most and no way to restore them while bosses move in crazy patterns and shoot stuff at you while doing so. Also upgrading your Sword and Shield are a pain.

Seasons brings in a new equipment called "Rings" which you can find thought the world and wear for random bonuses. It's a nice feature but most of the good rings have to tracked down I only came across two rings my entire play through until the end of the game when I went exploring.

My last beef with this game is it's very non linear game play. If you need to find the next Dungeon you better get ready to wander for hours on end. Something that would have been charming as a child is just plain irritating as an adult.

Oracle of Seasons is not for the faint of heart and of all the 2D Zelda games I imagine these ones are near the bottom of the list of which to play.
