Best Gameboy game? Yes. Best Zelda game? My favorite at least.

Many will kill me for saying this but Link's Awakening for the Gameboy is my favorite of the Zelda series. I've played practically all the others and enjoyed Ocarina immensely, but Link's Awakening always came to my mind first when I thought of the series. It just seemed so much more unique and bizarre than the other games in the series. Link awakes on an island. Zelda and Ganon or no where to be found. New enemies, bosses, and dungeons than the other games. It just felt like such a vastly different and fresh Zelda experience. I loved the various instruments and the way they implemented them into the game and many of the side stories and dialogue were pretty hilarious. And as far as I know it's the only Zelda game where someone eats a mushroom and turns into a raccoon. These are some of the many reasons why Link's Awakening is my favorite Zelda game.
