For sonys first try at the RPG genre they did a great job

The playstation one is known for being a power house at the rpg genre, games like grandia, final fantasy, lunar, etc all popped up in this reat system. But one game in particular catched my attention outside all these games and its the legend of dragoon, this game is called a final fantasy 7 knock off and overall a bad game. LOD is in a way a experimental rpg, it has the regular rpg controls. Yes this game can sometimes be reallly generic for example, the begining where you just have melee attack and it takes a good while to get your first dragoons, in the other hand the melee combo is a breath of fresh air at the time it came out, you know that rushed feeling you have when you just want to speed trough the dungeon and you mash the attack button when its your turn? well you cant really do that in this game you have to pay attention at all time. LOD has a simple story line, the characters all have their own personality, the cutscenes are pretty trippy and add little to the story. The pre rendered backgrounded dungeons are a blast to pass trough, the leveling up is unusual if you are used to the highest level being 100 well here its 60 but your characters are really powerful. the little bit of extra missions are fun and the fighting music is just really awesome and i guarantee it wont bore you, the music gives the boss battles more of a feeling of being in the game. overall the legend of dragoon is a must play for all psone rpg players and rpg fans alike. this game goes for a pretty penny and has not been realeased in the playstation network outside of japan so i recomend for hardcore rpg fans to play this. hopefully this game does make a PSN apearance that will help it become a bigger cult classic.
