I Am Writing This Review After Getting My A** Kicked In The Laggy Online
Graphics.
They suck. I have no idea what the heck SNK was smoking when they said that the PS2 was not going to be able to support the graphics. KOF 99 in the PS Store looks even better (A bit of exaggeration, just to show you how mad I am). Large pixels, sure, they are hand drawing but common, couldn't they have used a bit of computer to make those square shapes a bit round?
Gameplay.
Solid, can't screw that one up.
Characters
Well. I started KOF with 97, I played 97,97,99, and skipped all the other ones until this one XII, but I don't really need to go back to those games that I never played to realized that characters, fav fan characters are gone, I will mention my fav. characters first: K'
, where the hell is he? Mai? are you kidding? Shingo? and all the other characters people love. Also some moves were taken away from some characters, and some were changed, but in the end, it balances out.
Online
All I will say is : Slide Show, with cool animations.
So far I have not faced a person that has fully blue bars, and people with yellow always lag, the lag is so bad sometimes in yellow bars, that I am scared to faced a guy that has red bars, it is a serious problem, SNK killed it here, there hope to shine in this gen with fighting games, and they ruined it. I will say its playable, but u have to look for a game, refresh the list at least 5 times in order to find a room that will not suck so bad.
Online Part 2
the top part was meant for people who own an arcade stick. this part is for people who do not have one (myself included) I will say the same thing as above, just add a little more. Unless your have a super controller that is very sensitive to the buttons you press and follows every move you command, and know what to press, then you in good shape. It is very difficult to play with a controller online, I have played Practice for a while to learn move but I still cant do them right, and every time I ump online one mistake from me like letting the enemy hit me with a strong kick, and he immediately takes 1 third of my life, how? by busting a whole bunch of moves that you don't even see in arcade, even when you play it on hard. the reason, the stick, if you are new to the series, you will hate this game, if you have some experience, you will still think the game is broken and has a lot of errors.
Just a little thing I want to ask SNK:
Whats up with Ralf and Clark? since KOF XI, have they been going to the gym or what? Their muscles are bigger than Goro
