From a gamer that played all the x-com games....
I think this release got a lot of bad reviews because people were expecting it to be the same type of over-head strategy game as the others in the series...this of course is not the case. If you can get past that fact and you like FPS games then you will enjoy this game. Instead of being the person behind all of your x-com troops, it focuses on a single x-com agent. It definitely was not what I expected when I bought the game, but it was a pleasant surprise none the less. I do hope that future x-com games return to the over-head strategy based games, but this game was entertaining and provided a different and interesting perspective.
The game itself was rather short but had a decent story line to it. It did lack all of the normal things that made x-com popular (building your base, researching technology, etc...) ...but that was the point I think ...all of that is out of your control, you're just a agent following orders...you're ability to choose what to do is limited solider :)
