Banner Saga turned out to be a decent game. Not a great game, but not bad either.
The combat system, lore, and general concept of the game (where your choices matter) comes together quite nicely. Probably the best part of the game is that it fosters a genuine feel of 'struggling' as you desperately try to keep your party afloat until the next rest stop. In that, the game succeed tremendously.
Where it falters is the maintaining of interest. By the time I got to Banner Saga 2, the game had fallen dead. I had no motivation of really pursuing the storyline any further, and no real investment in the characters. I'm not exactly sure why, but the only real thing I can attribute that to is the lack of interesting character development.
Ultimately, Banner Saga does a great job creating a new world with interesting gameplay, but I suppose the characters/story left much to be desired.
