TMNT is a classic beat-em-up, but does it really do anything new?

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a classic beat-em-up arcade game, the nostalgia is in the air, but the feel isn't, what I mean is that this really isn't a good game and doesn't exactly feel like I'm playing a TMNT game. Here's my reason...

Okay so this game loosely follows the story of the TMNT cartoon, which is obvious because about half the story is told through the cartoon's cutscenes. The characters are all here too, like Leonardo and Casey. The villains, yeah they're there, but it seems like there's more emphasis on the bad guys I'm normally fighting, like the foot ninjas have a pretty decent explanation, but then I'm fighting someone like Dragon Face, which comes out of nowhere! There's wasn't much emphasis on the main plot villains either, true I only played about 3 levels before getting bored, but still, only from time to time do I know who I'm actually fighting i.e Shredder.

Graphics, they're decent, not very bad but definitely not too good. The 3D graphics were done well it's just that none of the characters during a in-game cutscene have no face. There are too small pupils and just a zombie's lovable expression, what I mean is that I can't tell if they're smiling or frowning, there's just no work on that. Plus, it seems like there's no lip-syncing. are they're faces paralyzed as well as they're fingers? Questions we already know. Well let's get to gameplay.

Gameplay was done poorly, there really isn't much here that actually proves that TMNT is different from any other beat-em-up arcade. There's your light attack, strong attack, and other attack. There's also your projectile weapon, in this case a shuriken, to attack baddies from afar, destructible items, gas cylinders, and recovery items, like food, extra shurikens, and stat boosts. I've seen it all before. The controls are okay, I just hate this camera! Sometimes it can help you and other times, I can't see the enemies ending in a major beat-down. The gameplay is also so repetitive it got extremely boring.

Well Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, should you Buy, Rent, or Skip? This is really a hard choice because even though it has multiple problems it did have some shining moments, so I say if you're a hardcore fan of the Turtles I suggest a Rent, if you just want a game, a definite Skip.

Goods-Good 3D Graphics, Good Controls, Some "Ah-ha!" Moments

Bads-Bad Camera, Recycled Story, Not Enough Emphasis On Some Important Characters, and Boring Gameplay
