Tales of Symphonia is THE best RPG on the GameCube.

The GameCube was underrated. Any system with an RPG like Tales of Symphonia is awesome in my book. The characters are the best ever to grace the genre on GameCube, the story is epic, and the battle system is pretty darn impressive. Long before the events of the game, there was a giant tree that was the source of mana. But a war caused the tree to die. To save the world, the hero, Mithos, sacrificed himself. The goddess, Martel, was upset with Mithos' death and went to sleep. If she isn't woken up, the world will be destroyed. Only one of the chosen can do this. And none have succeeded. Fast forward to the present, and the seventh chosen, a girl named Collette, has recieved the oracle and begins her journey to wake Martel and defeat the evil Desians. Accompanying her is Lloyd , his best friend, Genis, a mercenary named Kratos, and Genis' sister, Raine. You may wonder why you do not play as Collette herself, but it could be that there's more story potential with Lloyd. The battle system, called the Linear Motion Battle System(or LMBS), mixes together traditional elements of the genre with beat-'em-up style combat. Battles aren't random. So you don't have to fight more than you want to. This game is awesome.-Dan B. Jr.
