A classic and extrememly enjoyable platformer that will always be remembered in the world of video games.
I first played this game seven years ago and it stuck with me all these years. I found it so compelling and unbelievably enjoyable that it shaped the way I would view games from that day foward.
The gameplay is simply perfect. I have no major thoughts on how it could have been improved, and the controls seem very polished. This is a run-and-jump affair that will give you a great sense of accomplishment.
The graphics and sound were, for it's time, amazing. They still impress me today, taking into account how limited the technology was back then. The sprites are well animated and give off a lot of the characters personalities. The bleeps and bloops of the audial area are not irritating, but immersive.
SMB is a classic for so many reasons. These include it's high level of replayability and ease of getting into it for the first time. There is no doubt in my mind that it will be remembered forever in the world of videogames.
Every time a list of games is compiled that defined the genre, SMB will be near the top, if not knocking it off. Gaming perfection.
