Being a fan of the original Super Mario Bros. I thought I would give this a go. I read the warning that the game was never officially released in the west because Nintendo felt it would be too difficult for a western audience. Now this might not be the case for everybody, but for me, It is definitely the case. For those that don't have a problem with the difficulty, I salute you because it does definitely require a lot of practice to get through the entire game.
The level design is using the same palette as Super Mario Bros, but they have designed the levels in such a way that most are unforgiving if you make the mistake of going to far on the screen, over jump, under jump or grab the wrong mushroom. And while the original game did penalize you for running to far or miss jumping, it didn't do it as frequently as Super Mario Bros. 2. Nice game but I will rarely play it now as I try to avoid frustrating myself too much.
