Yes, this is the Super Mario Bros 2 that was released in Japan that was unreleased in the US. This game marks the 3rd US release of this game, only this time, it's the first time we actually get the actual NES version. The other 2 releases was in Super Mario All Stars for the SNES using the title "Super Mario Bros The Lost Levels". The second time it was released was in an unlockable in Super Mario Bros Delexe for GBC which uses the name Super Mario Bros for Super Players (it's also what they called it in Japan when they released it on SNES instead of calling it Super Mario Bros 2).
Anyway, I recently downloaded this game for Virtual Console and I got to say, it is really hard. It's harder to beat than Super Mario Bros itself. This game basiclly takes Super Mario Bros to a more difficult level. If you want to take the original Super Mario Bros to a more difficult level then download this game for Virtual Console. It's so hard, you're gonna want to play this as much as the original.
