Let me start off by saying that Streets of Rage 2 was my favorite SEGA Genesis game back in the day and still stands as my favorite along with Vectorman. First off, SOR 2 continues right where the first one ends. Very cool since continuity is a good thing. The game is a vast improvement from the original. While the original was pretty good, the second one really does show what sequels are capable of. The graphics are fantastic with plenty of level design and character modeling that flows great. The sound is definately something to take notice to. From the sound effects, to the peoples' shouts when defeated to the fantastic music, its all awesome and well thought. The controls are very responsive and tight. Combos are very satisfying to pull off, especially when enemies surround you, you focus kicking the crap out of one of the thugs in front of you and as someone approaches from behind you, you can hit them from behind by slamming your elbow into the face, very nice feature. The Co-op mode is great of course, except for one feature...you can hurt your partner which is kinda lame. Luckily you deal minimal damage to each other so it's somewhat forgivable. The game is 8 stages long, and while it takes only about 45 minutes to go through the game, you'll be revisiting it again and again due to how much fun there is to be had with this classic beat-em-up. Not downloading this game would only be a mistake, considering more than half of the game released for the Wii VC aren't anything spectacular. This on the other hand is what the Wii VC needed...big time! Download it now!!
