If you are a snowboarding fan, then SSX Tricky is the game for you. In SSX Tricky you are cast as one of 5 snowboarders that you race as and improve their skills, such as speed, stability, tricks, turning, etc. What sets SSX Tricky apart from the crowd, are the uber tricks. If you fill up your adrenaline meter by pulling off smaller tricks, you have twenty seconds to perform an uber trick. Uber tricks are huge aerial stunts and range from breakdancing on your board while in the air, to doing the worm on your board, to laying down on your board and spinning like a torpedo. The graphics in Tricky are on par with the xbox standards. The courses are well designed and drawn. There are hidden shortcuts, and plenty of them, and they all look good too. The snow looks realistic and sprays up when you turn sharply. The characters look good and there are plenty of different clothing styles to add to them to change their appearance. The animations are very well done and the uber tricks look asounding even if you have pulled them off many times before. Tricky does have some framerate problems, which can hamper the gameplay at times. The gameplay in Tricky is very simple. Customizing your character is easy, and entering races is even easier. The controls are fairly simple. The A button is jump and the other buttons are certain grab tricks and when combined with the triggers, add up to a bigger grab trick. The uber tricks involve both triggers and usually 2-3 buttons but the reward is defintely worth the effort. The sonund in SSX Tricky is simply great. There are good soundtracks playing in the background while you are racing and the taunts between players are great also. The sound of your board on snow is accurate and it actually sounds like you are carving through the turns. Overall, SSX Tricky is an awesome game for all xbox owners, and with the $20 pricetag, its a shoe-in to your collection.
