Spyro: Year of the Dragon marks the end of the Insomniac era of Spyro with an "ECKY ECKY ECKY KAPANG ZOOM POW BOING."

User Rating: 9.2 | Spyro: Year of the Dragon (Platinum) PS
GAMEPLAY: 9/10
Spyro 3 is so much fun to play. It's challenging, yet not so much that a kid couldn't beat it. This time around, Spyro has buddies that you can play as: Shiela the Kangaroo, Sgt. James Byrd (Agent 90068) the Penguin, Bentley the Yeti, and Agent 9 the Monkey. Everything rocks my socks, especially the fact that Spyro gets his old arsenal of moves back from Ripto's Rage. The story's not all that bad: evil sorceress wants to get dragon's wings so she won't be ugly, Spyro says "nuh-uh," and goes on a quest to rescue 148 dragon eggs. Okay, cool. Also, I can't stop playing their skateboarding mingame because it's just so fun! However, the flight levels are still über-frustrating; they're the culprits keeping me from getting into the Super Bonus Round for completing the game 100%.

GRAPHICS: 10/10
For a PlayStation game, the graphics are good; combine that with amazing artistic desgin and you've got one helluva combo! All the worlds are beautiful, the characters are lively and entertaining, and stuff basically rocks.

SOUND: 8/10
Voice acting is good, sound effects are good, and the music is good, but the thing is, I was so spoiled by the soundtrack in Spyro 1, nothing seems to compare...sigh...

VALUE: 10/10
I got this game three or four years ago and have played through it four or more times. One time, I was sick, and I spent seven hours playing until my mom forced me to go to sleep. Spyro 3 can be extremely addicting.

TILT: 9/10
This was the number-one game of my earlier gaming years, and it still ranks fairly high. I would encourage any PS or PS2 owner who enjoys platformers to go find a copy of this game somewhere and play it...you won't be disappointed.
