Dosen't do a lot more than it's previous games but still manages to delivery a fresh and enjoyable experience

The third Spyro the dragon game calls spyro to the aid of all the other dragons again when they one day wake up and find all the dragon eggs have been stolen!
Spyro is the only dragon small enough to fit through the hole in which the egg theif escaped and rushes to rescue and bring back all the dragon eggs.

Altough it's the third in the series you need not have played the previous 2 as Spyro year of the dragon is a fresh new story only featuring a couple of characters which are reconisable from the 2nd game.

But anyway, onto gameplay, you can glide, body slam, breath fire, swim, dive, climb, charge and head but as soon as you start the game, unlike the previous games you don't have to buy any new powers.
Altough there's nothing to buy there are still gems to collect which helped you progress from world to world, you also need to have collected a certain number of eggs to progress to another world, there are 5 worlds with over 8 levels in each of them which means plenty of play time.

Each level contains a few eggs, a couple hundred gems as well as enemies and mini games.
Mini games have been given a big update, you can also do skate boarding which is acctually suprisingly fun where you play as Spyro riding on a skateboard and perform tricks for points which usually add up to eggs.
Each level also has it's unique own theme, for example there's an ice based level set in the snow with artic style enemies.

It also brings a new feature allowing you to play as other characters, in each world there are set levels in which you play as another character.
You usually unlock these after aqquiring a certain amount of eggs and gems and need to complete these levels to continue to the next world.
Just for example you play as Sheila the kangaroo for a few levels in the game, you unlock her when you pay her fee to be released from a cage, throughout her levels there are gems and eggs as there are in a normal level that Spyro would do.

Graphically it does well considering it's a PS1 game and shouldn't dissapoint, textures are much more smoother and water detail is well animated, the over all presentation is great.

I hope this review helped, thanks for reading!
