Miles better than Enter The Dragonfly, but still not as good as the PS1 Spyro games.

User Rating: 7.3 | Spyro: A Hero's Tail PS2
I got this game last year as a gift and i was really pleased as i have been a big spyro fan ever since the first game release for the PS1. This game is miles better than the first release for the PS2 (Enter The Dragonfly) as it feels a lot less dull during gameplay. I was not pleased at all the first time i played Enter The Dragonfly as i realised it wasnt as good as what id been expecting, but it felt a lot different the first time i played A Hero's Tail as i wasnt expecting it to be as good as it is. The reason for this is not because this game is excellent, but it is because i expected it to be the same or not as good as Enter The Dragonfly. The PS1 spyro games have not been beaten so far by the PS2 games as the character development and the games levels dont seem as exciting as they were before. A big thing that i was dissapointed about in A Hero's Tail was that there is no world portals anymore, as they have been removed from the game completely. I really loved the idea of travelling to different places by portal use, it was the one big thing that made spyro games as good as what they actually were. I think the best thing about A Hero's Tail is the looks of it. Lots of colourful scenery, great graphics, nicely designed areas to travel through, nice looking game altogether really, although like ive said before the removed portals idea make it quite dissapointing. If you have A Hero's Tail but dont yet have Enter The Dragonfly, then i suggest you only go out and buy it for curiosity of the storyline if you are a big spyro fan, because you will probably be dissapointed. On the other hand if you have Enter The Dragonfly but dont yet have this game, then you will probably be very happy to own this game as it brightens things up a lot from playing the first PS2 spyro game. Fans who own all of the spyro games including the first 3 which are for the PS1 and the latest 2 games that are for the PS2 will most proably agree that the PS2 versions are nowhere near as good as the first 3 for the PS1.

Here are some good points, and some bad points on A Hero's Tail:

Good Points: Very nice colourful scenery and graphics, nice storyline, nice character design, great controls, exciting gameplay and cool features.

Bad Points: Doesnt feel as good as the PS1 spyro games during gameplay, portals idea has been removed from the game, and quite a few good points of the spyro games for the PS1 no longer exist in the PS2 games.

Overall this game would definately be over 5/10 because of the improvements that have been made from Enter The Dragonfly and because of this, it can also probably cause some people to overate it, but i myself find A Hero's Tail a very great game to play although like ive mentioned, it has its bad points aswell as its good points. I definately recommend this game to all spyro fans. it may not have the same feeling as the PS1 spyro games, but it is still a fun and nice game to play!
