This game is a solid game that manages to top the sequel.

I reviewed Spiderman 2 for the PS2 and it was a great game with some difficulty issues. Now I have come across the first game and it isn't half bad. Sadly this manages to be even harder than Spiderman 2 and it was so hard I just used cheat codes to advance and I still lost. This game has a unique feature to it, there are a set of minigames and training sessions to try when you are done with the main game or just want to take a break from it all. I think it's a cool feature that they added this in because it adds more fun to the game. I'm just going to go over a few of the games. Combat training is a basic game in which you are in a wrestling ring defeating waves of thugs and then defeating the boss. The controls are easy. Square, circle and triangle to attack, X to jump and shoulder buttons to swing. There is also a moves list that you can use to perform advanced attacks such as the ''web bomb'' or the ''web gloves.'' It's a fun game that is pretty lengthy. Big brawl is a bit like this but with a bigger environment and harder enemies. It's harder than the standard combat training but just as fun. Web bowling (or something like that) is awful. There are thugs lined up in a bowling alley and you have to swing your web and kick them to knock them over. The controls are buggy and don't usually work.
The graphics in the main game and in the mini games are outstanding and the framerate flows like liquid. The boss battles are good, but nothing special. They last for about 5-10 minutes and they are OK. The gameplay is challenging and exciting and really keeps your attention. This game is one of those addicting games that you find for $30 in a store but this game is like what $5 new or something. That's pretty amazing, then yet again this game is 10 years old. Spiderman is a brilliant game. With Great graphics, challenging difficulty, cool minigames, flexible camera and overall alot of fun. The only downsides found were the boss battles could get repetitive and dull and the game is too hard but if your a big Spiderman fan and you like actions games then this move tie-in is ace.Buy it now.
