Sonic games are awesome!

User Rating: 2.8 | Sonic the Hedgehog: Genesis GBA
...but for this game, I might as well shove a dog turd into the GBA cartridge slot.
Yeah, this is THE biggest let-down of all Sonic games. The original ROCKED, but this sucked through and through.
Introduction: The game structure and plot are the same as the original. Free the little animals from Eggman, and stop hs evil works. Unfortunately, this gameplay experience is not fun like it was back in 1991. Don't think this is because GBA cannot handle Genesis games. The Sonic Advance trilogy rivalled Sonic 1-S3&K. This proves GBA IS capable of a decent port of Sonic 1. Sonic Team put very little effort into this game. I'd rather this game was not even released at all because the bad out-weighs the good.

Gameplay - 3: Sonic seems okay at first, but as you pick up speed, you feel as if something's wrong. Like something is different about the gameplay feel. Once you hit top speeds, the game slows down, and if you collide with a wall in mid-air, you'll just keep on going super fast as soon as you move over or under the wall. This often leads to very frustrating deaths. Alot of the old tricks and techniques of the original have been dumbed down and sometimes made made useless. Even some fun gimmicks are now made frustrating. Of course, the game has tons of new glitches just waiting to kill you at the most inconvenient times. Boss fights are way too slow, and do not feel the same as the original. Speed-up items have no effect. In order to make the game run a little smoother, you must turn off the sound effects and music through the options menu. Once you beat the game, you unlock a Juke Box which plays all of the game's tunes. -
Sounds - 1: My goodness... the Sonic Advance series' sounds rocked, but this game sounds like Game Gear stuff. The only decent sounds are the ring collection, and ring loss sounds. The other stuff is pretty awful, unless you like beeps-and-boops for your game's sounds and music.

Graphics - 9: The graphics are crisp, clear, and vivd. Just about as nice as the original. unfortunately, this doesn't make up for the game's downsides. And since the veiw is jumpy alot of times, the good graphics look a little bad. That's why I has to mark down the graphics by 1.

Result: I don't reccomend this game to anyone. But if you like glitches and find them fun, then buy this game because it is chalk-full of them.
