At that time in 1991 he became even more popular that Mickey Mouse & Sega managed to surpass Nintendo on the market but it didn't lasted too long...
1991...those were unbeliveable times that bring huge amounts of nostalgia & Sonic is very responsible for this-playing this game in 1991 on the original Sega Genesis with that solid game controller was pure unadultered gaming joy fun!It has beautifull colours & landscapes that mesmerize you,sweet music & sounds & a fast gameplay-the so called blast processing of Sega-no comment on this one...
You get Sonic through 6 worlds & 1 final stage where you collect all the way golden rings-your in pursuit after the chaos emeralds.At some points you also get to play some bonus levels.Your enemy is Dr. Robotnik(European/American version)/Dr.Eggman(Japanese version).He offers you the easiest boss battles in the history of video games-it's hilariously easy fighting Dr. Robotnik,it's almost a joke.He offers no challenge at all...maybe at the last level but not even there.
He trapped cute little animals in robotic traps & wants to do other bad stuff.At the end of each battle with Robotnik, Sonic frees those cute animals.
In the game you die if you don't have at least 1 ring & when you collect 100 rings you get a life(you get a life,lol:) Mario is with golden coins-Sonic is with golden rings!My prrreeeciouss!!!
The most charming zone is obviously the first one,Green Hill Zone where everything is flawlles!This part was taken from Heaven itself,when it comes to absolute gaming it can't get better than this!Too bad that you finish it in a flash.The music here is very nostalgic & probably the best in all Sonic games.
Only 2 things 1 have to complain about this game,2 things keep me from rating it with 10:
1-The lenght of the game:it's quite short
2-No saving options:you are forced to finish all the game in one blow.
The gameplay is very simpl,eyou just need to use 2 buttons all the time:R on the D-Pad & 1 randon button to jump.It looks like this game was designed for 3 year old children but i love it this way-let all the other games be dificult & this one very easy.The only ability of Sonic is to make a spinball but you can't make it when you stay still,you can make it only while running.He gets the invincible power-up from boxes-it's similar with the Starman from Mario.
The hardest zone of the game is definitely the Labirynth zone,where you wish you'd be dead instead of playing it.The music there is very catchy.In general i hate underwater levels & this game makes no exception.
This is a platformer almost at it's best & as i know the platformers rule,they are the best,the most representative,the standard in video games-this is what it's all about when it comes to video games.This game & Sonic as well are timelles,they will never be forgoten or called outdated-this is the true characteristic of something that you call classic.This is my 3rd favourite platformer of all time, after Super Mario World & Super Mario Bros 1.
