Sonic was really the only competition Mario had back in the day and he certainly gave our favourite plumber a run for his money. Fast gameplay, catchy soundtrack and challenging all at the same time. Even for today Sonic holds up really well. Anyone from this day and age can really get into it without any hesitation. It can be frustratingly challenging at times but games were a lot more difficult back then, which made them all the more satisfying to beat. A lot of kids these days who are obviously spoiled and just privey to the modern advancement of technology may wonder what all the fuss is about such an old game. Sonic is what helped define the platform genre that lead the way for those other platformers like Ratchet and Clank and Spyro just to name a couple. This is definitely worth checking out all over again because it is one of the true greats in this industry.
