A must own for all Sonic fans with an iPhone or iPod Touch.

User Rating: 9 | Sonic the Hedgehog 2 IOS
As the name implies, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is the game after the first one. This time Sonic takes Miles "Tails" Prower along. Though no one calls him Miles, everyone calls him Tails. He runs with you in each level. Keep in mind though, Tails is completly useless. Sure he does collect rings for you(especially in the bonus levels) and defeats enemies, but that's it. In the original, you can have a second player control Tails, but here, you can't, which sucks.

The graphics are the same as the original on the Sega Genesis, and it looks good for it's time.

The controls are the same as Sonic 1 for the iPod as well. You use the control pad and A button on the screen. However in this game it comes with a new feature; the spin dash. To do it you hold the control pad down and hold A, and you'll start spinning in place. When you let go Sonic will start speeding away.

Each zone has two acts instead of 3. On the second act, you fight Eggman. The boss battles have much variety, which is a good thing in games.

In the original, if you had 50 rings, at the end of the act, you could jump into a giant ring, which will send you to a bonus level. But this time, if you reach a checkpoint with 50 rings, you can play a bonus level, which is different from the original. In this one you have to run thru a track collecting rings, and if you collect enough, you get a Chaos Emerald.

THE VERDICT!

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is another example of Sega actually trying to get a game right, instead of making another lousy Sonic game loaded with gimmicks. If you are a Sonic fan with an iPod/iPhone that hasn't played this game yet, buy it now.

Final Score-
9.0 Superb

(Review Revisited: An recent update allowed another player to play as Tails with Bluetooth, which means if you have a buddy with this game, they can play as Tails.)
