FINALLY there's a good sonic game!

User Rating: 6.5 | Sonic and the Black Knight WII
thank you for choosing to read my review! i appreciate it very much because i put so much work into making this one.

****WARNING!!!! SPOILERS AND FULL GAME DETAILS AHEAD!!!!!****

if you want the plot and everything to be a surprise, stop reading right now.

**IF YOU DON"T WANT TO READ THIS WHOLE REVIEW, THERE'S A SHORTER VERSION ALL THE WAY AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS REVIEW!!!*

LONG VERSION: ok. like, this game was a 100% improvement than that sonic and the secret rings abomination.

so like, the plot is so weird. like, there's this girl whose grandpa did something to their kingdom or whatever, and king arthur tries to punish her in some way (i think that's what happened. if i have it wrong, please let me know.) she summons sonic so he can stop king arthur from ruining the kingdom more, and like, the plot is just weird. very weird.

and the controls are better than most sonic games i've played. but it's a little hard to move the people left and right. but besides that, it's all good.

the music is mentally disturbing (i'm not kidding). like, when you fight king arthur, they play a weird song in the background, and it sounds like a linkin park song coming from a radio with bad reception. but, you can hear some things that they say, but you probably won't want to hear the music after i described it. and when you beat the game, you are forced to sit through 6 whole precious minutes watching credits and hearing a disturbing song, which sounds like a stratovarious song coming from a radio with bad reception. so when the credits come, here's a good thing to do: put your tv on mute and do something that takes 6 minutes to do.

the camera stays behind you most of the time, but when you go up something with a spiraling path (like a mountain) the camera will fly off to the side randomly, but that way, you can see enemies behind you better, so i think it was meant to go off to the side like that.

the graphics have nice detail and look very real (at least they look real when you aren't running at 300 miles an hour). the levels are nicely designed and everything. the cutscenes mostly look like animations from a little flip book or like stuff from a cartoon from the 1960's. and sometimes, the cutscenes have the beautiful, realistic graphics.

the boss battles are really hard. and they're so hard that like, when you die, you'll feel like throwing the controller at the tv.

the enemies, oh god, they're so stupid. most of them look the same and all the enemies have one thing in common: THEY'RE ALL RETARDS!!! they do the weirdest things you'll ever see in a game. but, they're not as disturbing as the enemies in "spyro the dragon".

and one thing that i really hate about this game is that when you get hit while you have some rings, they don't fly off so you can get them again after you drop them. instead, you have to find a whole different ring thingy. and when you get hit when you have rings, you loose 20 rings, or all of your rings if you have less than 20. and it's really hard to get 20 rings in the levels when the levels are overflowing with enemies, there are only a few ring things in each level, and when you find a treasure chest, it gives you ONLY 1 RING!!!! and like, having 1 ring will help when you are in a level with truckloads of enemies. (i was being sarcastic, retards)

and when you beat the game, there's more to the plot... lots more. you take a magic scabbard from king arthur when he dies, and you give it to merlina and she tries to fix the mistakes she made, but she makes them even worse than before.

then, after you beat the game, you get to play as shadow, knuckles, and blaze. and you have to run through these random new worlds to place a sword in the ground at some gravestone looking thing. there are 4 of them, so there are 4 new worlds with that. then they add even more worlds to run through. so, it gets annoying after a while. really, really annoying.

and have i ever mentioned the weird nicknames that shadow, blaze and knuckles have? shadow's nickname is Sir Lancelot. knuckles' nickname is Sir Gawain. and blaze's nickname is Sir Percival. those nickname are so weird. and i find blaze's nickname to be insulting. i mean, what kind if girl would want to be called sir? being that i am a girl, and i've been called "sir" before, i think it's very rude and disturbing. blaze's nickname should have been LADY Percival because she is a girl. and i think that's enough talking about disturbing nicknames.

and at the end of every level, you get a list of items you've collected throughout the levels. you get to identify the items yourself, but sometimes, you can only identify half the items you have because you need ID points to identify them, and you don't usually get a lot of ID points at the end of the level.

the ending is so weird. it turns out that king arthur was just an illusion, and merlina is really the evil one. she almost kills you. then, your friends help you by throwing their swords through a portal. all the swords combine and make the most powerful sword in the game, and you get cool, shiny armor. then you battle merlina. if you beat her, everything turns to normal, and sonic becomes king of the kingdom. then, the moral of the story comes: live life to it's fullest.

i actually thought this game was quite enjoyable, but i would highly recommend renting it first because it would only take around a week to beat the game 100%. but if you rent it and really want it like you just gotta have it, then buy it used because a game that takes about a week to beat it completely doesn't sound like a game worth buying for $50. ok? PLEASE RATE!!!

SHORT VERSION: the plot is weird, controls are very good; almost perfect, graphics are beautiful, the plot goes on even after you beat the game, camera stays behind you most of the time, and this game is madd short! rent it before you buy it! buy it used! PLEASE RATE!!!!
