Brilliant high-octane racing with a good selection of SEGA characters

User Rating: 9 | Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing WII
You may have read my Mario Kart Wii review. I would say this game is very similar. So why do I give it a better score? There are a number of reasons.

First of all, I felt that the gameplay was tighter. I found it easier to do things such as drift, use items and generally traverse the courses. This is because the game has, in some places, a better design than MKWii. For example, the graphics really helped me see the courses and all the intricate details they contained, as opposed to MKWii which had nice graphics, but were a bit dull.

The single player consists of grand prix, single race and mission modes. Single race is self-explanatory. Grand prix is just the same as in MKWii, with 3 difficulty modes and 4 races per cup. The mission mode, however, is something entirely new. During these missions, you have to complete a certain objective such as collecting objects in a time limit, going through gates gaining or losing time depending on which ones you go through, and using a character's all-star move to some effect.

Speaking of all-star moves, these are power-ups you can obtain if lagging behind in a race. They are unique to each character and can be very fun to use.

Overall, this game is a great racer that rivals the Mario Kart series, and is a brilliant addition to anyone's collection, racing fan or otherwise.
