User Rating: 9.3 | Shenmue: Isshou Yokosuka DC
Shenmue is a classic. For one time, that game really is revolutionnary. A Dreamcast must-own, like many others. The Gameplay is really cool. It's divided in 3: fighting, quick-time events and going on in the adventure. There is also spending useless time by playing Arcade or Gambling and others... The fighting is good, many moves can be executed and learned. Grabs and all. After it was developped by AM2, makers of the Virtua Fighter games. QTE are sequences that you must press the right button at the right time. Sometimes to dodge a punch or obstacle, to run after your enemies. It's a fun idea. And the exploring to discover clues on where to go and what to do to unsolve the main story. The story. It's really cool, classic ancient Chinese stuff. I eat that. You father was murdered by a mysterious man. You must find follow him. Theres also the girl that you loves. That story is continued in Shenmue 2 and hopefully Shenmue 3. Graphics arte sometimes blocky but overall amazing. Characters faces and body looks very realistic for a DC game. It moves well. Solid stuff. Music/sound is nothing extraordinary. OK. The game can lsts long if you wander around, fight everytime you can and play Arcades and stuff. But it's relatively short. Average lenght i'd say. So i think that Shenmue is an amazing game. Everybody should have played it. Sadly it's not the case...
