In Serious sam 2 you shoot stuff, I wish there was more to say.

Serious sam has always been about sending hordes and hordes of enemies at your way from start to finish. The series has been dragged out, with quite a few different developers, while the Serious sam first and second encounter was made by Croteam, un-known developers made Serious sam next encounter and Serious sam advance, both bombed games. Now that were seeing Croteam back and making Serious sam, this game was super hyped, especially since the masters of pointless shooting was back, but this title fails miserably. The main reason is because you just shoot hordes of enemies, but it's not that satisfying and your brain just goes numb after a few hours of this, now imagine the game being strung out for about 15 long, boring hours. The graphics are just fantastic and colorful, but the rest of this title fails miserably, the humor is a hit and miss and the co-op just isn't that much fun.

Serious sam 2 stars Serious "Sam" Stone, a wiseguy who's more of an idiot than sly or cool. He's basically trying to get five pieces of this special token. So basically, you travel from one world to another, shoot up tons of enemies, and then face a boss at the end. You do this for 15 boring hours and then you beat this tedious game.

Serious sam 2 doesn't really have anything special in it, although the shooting mechanics really do work, most of your enemies are brain dead and just stand there waiting for you until you come in view, and then they start attacking you, which by that time, they've already exploded or been shot down.

Now, your foes come in all shapes and sizes, as a matter of fact, each world has their own type of monsters. The Carnavel world has lots of clowns with dynamite while the world where you get shrunk to a pea, has lots of bugs that are bigger than you. All of it is nice, but in the end, all the enmies just turn into the same type, as their attacks just don't really change.

You can even ride animals and vehicles, but it really doesn't change the game to much. You still shoot stuff, it's just now your not taking damage, the object your riding does. These vehicles and animals can do lots of stuff, from firing machine gun bullets on a vehicle to rolling in a ball that crushes foes. Either way though, it really doesn't change the theme of the game.

Serious sam 2 even goes so far as throwing in humor. The humor for the most part, fails miserably, some of it is somewhat funny, but a lot of it will just make you think/say "uhh, Ok." Thankfully, the weapon sounds make up for this and sound really great, especially the loud bang of the shotgun, but the machine guns sound seriously underpowered. Still the voice acting isn't to bad, it just sucks that it has to be wasted on such bad dialogue.

Well, this is an FPS, so naturally, there's weaponry. Actually, most of it is just recycled from the original Serious sam first and second encounter. It's a shame that it's the same stuff, just with different looks, but do the right thing and stick with the double barreled shotgun. It can be used from a distance or up close and reloads at perfect speed, and shotgun ammo is the most popular of the bunch, but still, the weaponry isn't to bad and overall it's a good size for a shooter like this.

Serious sam 2 works like this: you enter an area, lots of enemies spawn, kill them, take ammo/health that spawns, repeat until you move the next area. Sure it can be fun at times, especially with the colorful and bright graphics, but after 10+ hours of this, you just want to scream and throw the game out of the window. At least the boss fights are pretty cool, such as the boss that you have to shoot lightning links thats supplying his health.

You do have some neat gimmicks, such as the ice level where you have to get near heat before you freeze to death, or the unique bug level where your the size of a pea and have to work your way through a chocolate milkshake/ant tunnel, it's really neat, but the novelty wears off fast when you go back to another few hours of boring drills of shooting up lots of lifeless foes.

Actually, I'm being a bit harsh, some of the shooting can be fun. The enemies all fly apart and some of it looks really cool, plus the game can be funny at some spots, and the graphics are bright and colorful that really shine and makes you smile at how beautiful the game looks, even if some of the environments get repeated. Still, the repetitive, boring gameplay, brain dead enemies, weak story that is to straitforward almost the entire way, and overall, it just isn't that entertaining. Serious sam 2 even fails to have fun co-op. The original Serious sam games were fantastic in their diverse environments and satisfying shooting, but Serious sam 2 just doesn't have any of these elements. Just stay away from this shooter, I wouldn't even give a rental, just play the original Serious sam games over again, I promise your playing the same game, only the originals are in much better class and more fun to play.
