The best motorcycle game on the PS3.
It is a bare bones racer but I find that refreshing. It gives me the good stuff and cuts out all the extra add-on that often makes you wonder whether they could've done the core game better had they focused on the right things. You can do challenges aside from racing and they are quite fun compared to other games and especially the rewards: racing pictures which is nice, grid girls pictures which is nicer and racing movies which is awesome! The handling of the bike is great, there is not much to say about that but online is of course completely dead which means the AI need to be commented upon.
It could be alot better and it could be alot worse. At professional difficulty they are insanely fast at the start of a race when you yourself have to struggle with cold brakes and tires. So far the backmarker AI riders have suddenly cut two seconds off their qualifying pace in the actual race. That makes it quite frustrating. At Losail AI completely died a the end of the race and at Philip Island they kept a very high pace from start to finish. So at least it's unpredictable, that's much better than if they had raced with the same pattern every track. But it's also very frustrating and unrealistic at times. At Valencia I had pole position, chose mediums for race one and ended 17th, one guy beind me and the rest dnf:s. At race two I used softs instead and managed to keep togheter some of the fastest consecutive laps I've ever done in any racing game and could've reached 9th but fell on the final lap and ended 11th. That's a frustrating result since I was the pole-man but at the same time it was a fabulous racing experience where in the final laps I had caught the guys by racing flawlessly for many laps but the soft tires gave me problems because they had worn down. Just right, I might add. I could still race with them but not as fast and hard since grip and traction had degraded. I fell becuase I took it beyond the limit when eager to push my hardest, my own fault, not because I wasn't notified of the degraded tires through feel.
If you like simracing and motorcycles you must own this game.
