Saints Row IV: Better than The Third

User Rating: 7.5 | Saints Row IV X360
Initially, I wasn't intending on purchasing SR4; especially since I'm tempted to freeze myself in anticipation of the GTA V, but the thought of ending up in 2546 with various Atheist factions at war with each other detoured me from doing so. While I also played SR3, unlike other Open World games I've play like; Red Dead Redemption and Skyrim, it's replay value quickly deteriorated after beating the game. What ultimately changed my mind regarding SR4 was how much fun everyone else seemed to have playing it and in my opinion it's much better overall than SR3, even though it obviously uses the same system/engine/graphics as its predecessor.

The idea of having Super Powers in an open world setting has always been very appealing to me and SR4 did not disappoint. The Story Mode from start to finish, with the exception of a few bugs and freezes, was very enjoyable. There were moments that felt epic and others that gave me a good laugh as well.

Unfortunately, as with SR3, once you beat SR4 it's replay value goes downhill. If you're a fan of Open World games and looking for a good time as well as a chance at using Super Powers to wreck all sorts of joyful destruction and havoc; I would highly recommend SR4 as a rental or when it can be found in the discount basket a few months/years down the road. After beating SR4, I would have to say that Gamespots 7.5 Rating is Spot On.
