It's not that bad, GameSpot!

User Rating: 8 | Resident Evil 3: Nemesis PC
The truth is, as a loyal fan of the RE franchise, i gotta say that GameSpot is just way too harsh to give this game a 6.9.
For anyone who doesn't know, RE3:Nemesis is a story about Jill Valentine trying to get out of Raccoon City in one piece, but got herself a loyal fan: Mr Nemesis(AKA Mr I love Jill Valentine), a hunter who was injected with the Nemesis T-Type, which allows Nemesis to "think" and hunt down every member of STARS in Raccoon city(lucky Chris Redfield). And in the way of getting her butt out of the city, Jill met a group of Umbrella mercenaries. With the help of Carlos, the betrayal of Nicholai(they are the mercenaries), blah blah blah...something like that. The story is not so addictive, but it is good enough for you to know about what is going on.
The gameplay of RE3 is not different as RE2: You run around, pick some items, use them, unlock new doors, get more items, kill a hell lot of nasty zombies willing to chomp your head, unlock even more doors, get even more items... You get the idea. What you've experienced in RE2 is here in RE3.The "cinematic" camera, moves in a different position every time you change a "screen", the you-can't-move-when-you-are-shooting rule are still there. But the game still offers some new stuffs. The 180 degrees turn is an example. When you need to flee turn run+backward and you will turn back 180 degrees, making it easier to escape. And the live selection is good too, it allows you to make different choices, giving the game a high re-playable value.
The graphics of the game is not so impressive, looks just like RE Code Veronica, it not even uglier. The character movements is not smooth, so the horror is reduced.
And the puzzles is sometime dumb. When you activate the mayor statue's hand, and inside the statue is a battery(WTF) to activate an out-of energy elevator(that's too dumb). And we have to do a lot of backtracking too.
The sound is just the same as RE2, good enough too make you scare the shi* out of you.
And the horror...good!The zombies is still disgusting and horrifying, many creatures can scare the heck out of you, and you don't want to suddenly meet Nemesis when you are walking in a silent restaurant of when you're out of ammo!
That's all I want to say.Have fun playing the game!
