Red Dead Redemption: making the cowboy dream cool since 2010...

User Rating: 10 | Red Dead Redemption PS3
Remember the days when you were a kid and always wanted to play cowboys and Indians with friends? Neither do I, but Red Dead Redemption should remind you of how much time you wasted as a child NOT playing cowboys and Indians.

The game's main protagonist is John Marston, a man in the middle of his lifespan, who is being forced to cooperate with the Marshalls in trade for his family and life back. Honestly, John is maybe the strongest character in Rockstar history, right next to Tommy Vercetti (Vice City). The voice acting is superb and unbelievable and yet, for some reason, he reminds me of a cool version of Dog The Bounty Hunter.

The story is uncanny, from start to finish, it's perfect. You may get the occasional ranching mission, but it's no big deal, they even get interesting. But, when you get the lasso, that's when the real fun start (may the hogtie massacre begin). Sometimes, when playing the story, and watching the cut scenes, you just want to sit down and not do anything. The graphics, voice acting, animation, etc. are beautifully done with flaws whatsoever with the occasional visual hiccup.

There is plenty of things to do in the world of New Austin and Mexico. Jump on a train, beat the crap out of someone in a saloon, shoot up a gang hideout, hunt for rabbits (shhhhh), or bears, etc. The best part about the game? You can do all this, on multiplayer, with your friends, in a posse.

Rockstar has truly reinvented the multiplayer experience with Red Dead Redemption, I can honestly say I have no idea how many times me and my friends have had the crap scared out of us by a cougar hiding in some bushes or a bear coming out of no where. Then again, we have had our frustrating moments when a guy just start shooting our posse, but Rockstar has fixed that,

The game modes on RDR's multiplayer are great, if you are aiming for a Free For All, the game starts off with a Mexican Standoff, if you are not similar with this, it's where all the player are put in a circle with their guns drawn, aimed at a person who they are ordered to kill by the game because they will "be dead soon". If you win the Standoff, you gain bonus XP and are probably in the lead. With team games, you are started off with a standoff, where the team is facing each other and has to draw their guns and kill their enemy before he/she does. I usually won because I figured out the analog stick trick to get a headshot (I'm not sharing that information with you) but it's still a blast.

Red Dead Redemption is nothing short of a perfect game, if you haven't picked it up, I suggest you do so at the soonest point in time.
