Dreamcast version > PS2 version

User Rating: 6.9 | Rayman Revolution PS2
I used to own a Dreamcast and Rayman 2. I loved it, but I sold it years back. Recently, I had a craving for Rayman 2 and I purchased Rayman 2: Revolution for PS2. What a let-down! I didn't think the graphic were any better than the Dreamcast version (although no suprise there - look at Soul Calibur to see what the Dreamcast is really capable of). The voice-acting in the PS2 version is horrid, especially since you can't even hear what they are saying without turning up the volume many degrees. On the other hand, the "synthesized" speech of the Dreamcast version lends a certain mysterious charm to the game, and never gets old, kind of like the speech in the first Klonoa game. It was made that way for the purpose and it worked beautifully, so why screw up a good thing? Finally, the "free-roaming" overworld for level selection in the PS2 version is simply unnecessary and extremely annoying. I recently purchased a new Dreamcast off Ebay, and am currently shopping around for a used copy of the DC version of this game. Makes me wonder what DC games would have been like right about now compared to PS2 games...

Sorry, but when I have the DC version to compare it to, I have to rate this game poor. However, if you've never had the chance to play the DC version, you will still enjoy this game.
