User Rating: 9.5 | Ratchet & Clank Future 2 PS3

I been aware of the Ratchet and Clank series since they were first release on the Playstation. I played the first Ratchet and Clank on the Playstation 2, but I remember that it was too hard in this area and I was stuck, so I decided to give up on the game and on the whole series entirely. That was a mistake that " A Crank In Time" made me regret.
"Ratchet and Clank A Crank In Time" is an action platformer exclusive game for the Playstation 2. I have not played or finish the previously release RAC games, so I do not know why Ratchet and Clack were separated at the beginning of the game, but that is the whole point of the plot of the game. Clank is being held captive by Dr. Nefarious. The player plays as Ratchet and goes in the universe on a quest to find Clank, and you also played as Crank. The main villain is Dr. Nefarious and he is trying to get a whole of something to turn back time to get rid of Ratchet and Clank. Ratchet meets up with his lombax uncle, and he also wants the "Time Machine" to go back in time to help save the Lombax race. The game consist of action sequences, and platforming to new areas. "A Clank In Time" has rpg aspects, because as you gain experiences your health in increase and your weapons can be upgraded. There is also some fun rail on sequences in the game. The game is very fun, and it has an engaging story for a game that looks like a children's game, but it really is not, and it is not violent at all either. Almost towards the end you will think that you fought the final boss and ready for the credits to start rolling on the screen, but you will be shocked when you have to fight someone that is very close to you. As a player that never played all the Ratchet and Clank games, I found myself enjoying the game and I was never confuse by the story at all, and every newcomer will probably be the same.
One of the main reason for not playing all the RNC games have to be because I thought they were too hard but not in "A Crank In Time", if I remember correctly there is a difficulty setting before you start the game. Even then the game is simple to pick up, the game is not extremely hard like the first game I played but it is challenging. I do think there is a difference between extremely hard and challenging.
Ratchet and Clank are separated throughout the game, and you played as both of them, and they are different. When you are playing as Ratchet you get the guns and jumping around to get to new areas, and it is a bit different as Clank. When you play as Crank you do not get guns, but this staff that can fix broken stuff. That is my only gripe about playing as Crank staff, because the staff never comes into play and you do not really have to put stuff together to get through the game, it is more like a novelty item. But you get some "time bombs". The "Time Bombs" play a major role when you play as crank, they help you in your platforming. For example if some platforming area has fast platforms you can throw the time bomb to slow it down so you can jump on it, and get to the other area. As Clank you also get to battle, but it is the same as Ratchet and also you will only get to solve puzzles as Clank. Everything about the game is perfect and, I just have to complain about the weapons system, I know Ratchets guns are upgradable, but they never feel powerful enough to single handily kill an enemy with one shot, but I found myself fighting with wrench when I played as Ratchet, I also feel the same for Clanks staff, i thought the developers could had better utilize the staff. Besides the small gripes RAC ACIT is an enjoyable.
"A Crank In Time" is a game for both kids and adults, the game looks like a Pixar movie. You do get to fight, but they are mostly robots. The guns are nothing out of the real world, some of the guns do some fun stuff, like the "Groovebomb", when the bomb goes off, it does not obliterate your opponents, but disco tune starts playing and your opponents start dancing, and it is one of the funniest things about the game. Also another fun weapon is "Mr. Zurkon", which pretty much an evil version of Clank who aides you fight, but throughout the game he is making comments about destroying you. The violence never reachers the level of graphic it over the top cartoon like. Another fun part of the game is "GrummelNet", it is the devices where you buy your weapons, and overtime you buy a new weapon you get a funny tutorial about how the weapons work, you have to see it to understand the humor in it. Even though the game characters consist of talking robots and fuzzy creatures, the voice actors are never annoying or try to sound over the the top except Dr. Nefarious, you will know when you hear him, but Nefarious is never annoying just another fun evil character. The game is very engaging and just plain fun, by the end of the game you will feel a connection for both Ratchet and Clank.
Ratchet and Clank a crack in time is a fun plat former almost perfect. The game is never hard but just challenging, and Clanks puzzles require some thinking to solve them, but they are never hard, just a lot of thinking. The game is fun in all aspect, from the battles, characters and story, I was always chuckling during the game something I never do. "A Crank In Time" has made a fan out of me of the Ratchet and Clank series, I really have been missing on something that is very enjoyable, and I will continue to play the new RAC games. In my opinion Ratchet and Clank can be called Sony s, " Legend of Zelda", that is how good "A Crank In Time" is.
