Though it has solid gameplay mechanics and a fun premise, Rabbids is just too padded out to stay interesting for long.

User Rating: 6.5 | Rabbids Go Home WII
Remember Rayman? Neither does Ubisoft. The Rayman franchise has apparently run its course, but has left behind atleast a spin off - the irresistible Rabbids. Much abused by the torture that is called a mini-game collection, he cute bastards who are likely to kill you have a new mission - go home.

Story
One word - brilliant. The story doesn't exist, but its brilliant. Basically, the rabbids one day, with nothing to do, look at the moon and decide that must be where they came from. Its only logical right? So they come up with a plan. Building rockets or spaceships is for lesser beings - they decide to pile stuff up till they reach the moon! Its probably the best premise for a pseudo-platformer i've ever seen, and it works wonders.

Gameplay - 7/10
The gameplay basically borders around a single concept - you need to collect stuff. In every mission you have a set target for the height your pile must reach. You just need to collect as many things as you can. And everything in this world is collectible. From humans' clothes, to cola bottles, to traffic cones, to - wait for it - dead dogs and chickens. Yes.
The basic gameplay is fun. You move with the nunchuk, shoot projectiles and scream (your basic knock back attack) by using the Wiimote. Its fun, and really should have made for a good game. Its not like they don't try - one level has you collecting stuff on an abandoned rocket engine, one on a truck tyre, and a particularly excellent one has you flying a hospital bed.
Rabbids problems lie with its lack of depth. Basically, the experience stays the same from start to finish. You collect stuff, collect stuff, and well, collect stuff. There's no new unlockables here, no new powers or ways to play that would have made this game fun. Its just the same thing over and over again, and while this thing is fun, it gets old long before you finish the game, so much so the finishing it becomes more of a chore than an exercise in fun.

Graphics - 6/10.
Nothing much of note here - it's your standard Wii visuals. The game's visual style is interesting, and the rabbids look cute, but thats around it. Otherwise, this looks like a PS2 game. Not necessarily a bad thing, we've come to expect that from the Wii, but nothing to look at here.

Sound - 5/10
Irritating. I get what they're trying to go for here, but the rabbids are irritating as hell. The in-game music is nothing to talk about. it tries to be madcap, but mostly just ends up being an another annoyance to deal with. The Rabbids sound like farts. Not retarded or something, they actually sound like someone is farting. And though i get the madcap mood Ubisoft is trying to go for, it just gets on your nerves.

I would describe this as a rental. If you have a Wii, and like everyone else can't find good games for it, this is a good buy. Its fun, its long, and will keep you occupied if nothing else. If you have another console, go play something there and don't bother with this - you're not missing anything.
