This may not be Final Fantasy VII, but Quest 64 is an underrated game worth noticing.
The gameplay in Quest 64 was very simple but yet it was very fun. Your name was Brian and you attacked with a small wooden staff. You're staff was pretty handy but you also got elements. You get fire, wind, earth and water elements and you assign them to the C buttons and use them for battle. It's kind of awkward the way this system is set up but you'll learn to deal with it. The game is pretty long and is very fun. You'll visit a few towns and fight some bosses and you'll also visit caves, mountains, a volcano, forests and more and it's just a very fun game. You get items and it plays out like an RPG game should. The enemie encounters are fun and not too frequent.
The visuals in Quest 64 even looked pretty blocky for the Nintendo 64 days when everything was blocky. Don't expect a Zelda 64 or Mario 64 graphics comparison game here but the world is well detailed and it looks pretty good overall. The music in Quest 64, I thought was great but apparently Gamespot didn't.
Quest 64 isn't too long but I love to go back and play it. Unfortunately, I lost my copy not too long ago and I have an urge to play it. Who knows, maybe I'll pick one of the four copies in the N64 bin at Gamestop? Well, I really liked Quest 64 and my friend did too but it seems like a lot of people didn't. This is a non biased review from me but I guess play at your own risk because you may not like it.
