I really hope that this game turns out well. I'm holding off for a few reviews but if things turn out positive then I will definitely be picking this up.
@ocelot-six: I'm playing through the series for the first time and so far, I have finished 5 of mainline RE games and while the series does have it scary moments, the tension comes from each game's overall tone and atmosphere. While RE7 has ended being my favorite of the games that I have played, it was significantly creepier and scarier than anything else in the franchise so I can see why they would want to go back to the tone of previous games like RE4.
In the end, I loved RE7 but them toning it down to be in line with past games in the franchise isn't the same as them neutering the franchise to appeal to everyone.....and they kinda already did that with RE6.
I'm currently playing RE7 for the first time and while it is scarier than any other RE game that I have played, it is also a fantastic experience. I'm on the last section of the game and it has become my favorite RE game and I'm super excited to see what they do with RE8, but I don't see RE7 being scarier and creepier as a negative.
@Smosh150: That wouldn't be enough, even if Epic were to create a platform that matched Steam feature for feature or even exceeded it, it wouldn't be enough to pull people away from Steam. Epic has to be aggressive, there are platforms on the PC that offer more consumer friendly features than Steam and even they have failed to pull users from Steam. If Epic hopes to make any impact into Steam's dominance in the PC space they have to use tactics like giveaways and exclusives.
I wonder how long until Sony removes the ability for you to even download your "purchases". They aren't going to keep their download servers up forever.
