Is it just me or does gears 1 look way better then gears 2 in these shots?? The sky is actually showing in gears 1, gears 2 has a fogged out backdrop which looks last gen. The graphics are way sharper in gears 1 and there are more details. Gears 2 everything looks green, and blurry to me. This is the game that all the hardcore xbox fans love to say has the best graphics? Really? Gears 1 looks so much better!!
First off I never seen that shadow effect in Dead space on the ps3..it's got to be a contrast/brightness problem, as I don't see it on my game. GTA4 looks way better then the pics they showed on here for it. the contrast is up way too high, and the brightness is too low. Maybe it's there tv or settings limited/full, etc.. I am using a gateway 24" glossy monitor 1080p 93% color gamut and all those games look great on default settings. When i switch the hdmi cord from the monitor to my 32" 720p sony bravia I have to adjust the brightness/contrast/gamma on GTA4 or it does look too dark compared to my monitor which seems to adjust things automatically or is just really good..(it has a built in video processor so maybe thats it?) SO Gamespot why don't you adjust the brightness/contrast/gamma so the games look normal? This is not what the ps3 shots look like in gta4 and deadspace. Also fallout 3 looks good on ps3...don't see what the problem is..360 is know for better aa due to a trick with it's ed-ram that gives 2xaa but it has worse textures and lighting. There was a few articles that showed how the actually shader/texture quailty on fallout3 was worse on the 360 it had no - low detail in hair, bark, backs of roaches, rocks etc... It's just that the 360 has better aa and people seem to see that more in comparison screenshots. When playing the game its' not an issue. Fallout 3 on ps3 is fine. With all that said... Yes the pc is king and always will be. It's good to see more pc gamers now. The last 2 years this site has been full of console peeps and game devs were not making pc exclusives like they used to...maybe it was just because the consoles were new... anyhow its good to see people still playing pc games... now if only console idiots would stop with the "but it cost $2000 crap or you have to upgrade everymonth" its all bs!! You can build your own system and play crysis on high for $600 nowadays! An 8800gt is all you need for graphics and you can buy one of those for around $120 now! Stop saying pc is too expensive! If you build it you can make an awesome rig for cheap...and take some pride in your creation. As for consoles PS3 is the way to go! No dumb accessories, built in wifi, free online, blue-tooth, remote play, blue-ray, etc.. The graphics look like the 360 on multiplat games but on the exclusives the ps3 blows it away! ps3 === better quality hardware, Fantastic Exclusives (mgs4, lbp, resistanace 2, motorstorm, killzone2 etc..), better features, more open structure(laptop hard-drive, bluetooth, internet, flash 9, and player mad mods!) 360 == cheap console, nikel and dime accessories, no wifi without $100 addon, proprietary hd, pay to play online, dumb games(halo and gears are not what i call great) and the dreaded rrod...it seems like a simple choice to me.
GS needs to adjust brightness on there monitor when doing ps3 gta shots. Those pics are way to dark! So much so it looks like the contrast is too high and the brightness down. I own ps3 gta4 and it doesn't look like that on my screen... It looks just like the 360 shots...so they need to stop this crap!
It's strange the rocks and such look the same on the ps3 and pc versons of fallout 3, and the lighting looks similar too..the only difference is the better antil-aliasing on the trees in the distance on pc( 360 has aliasing issues on that as well)
To the people complaining about having to upgrade, you need see the chart above, read it more carefully..the resolution for the mid range system is 2560x1600 that's way over 1080p that's an insane resolution! You need a 30inch monitor to even use that resolution, anyone who has one has got to be rich anyway as they go for about $2000! Then look at the aa and af settings set to 8x, thats freakin overkill, and at that res the mid end system is still running at 35 fps!! What does this tell you? That the chart is skewed, the graphics for this game are not demanding at all!! Read the chart, i don't know why gs thinks anyone plays at that res? Having 1920x1200 adn 1650x1080 would of been more appropriate. At 1920x1200 res with 2x aa which is adaquate those settings will give you 60fps. A 8800gt which is around $130 now, will play this game max up to 1080p resolutions....You DON"T need more then $700 to build a new machine with a e8400, a 8800gt, 2gb ddr2, and the rest. You people need to wake up and realize you don't need to drop tons of cash to play pc games. To the people that are happy with wow, that game is so boring, its got graphics from 2001 quailty(even when wow came out it was ugly.) How can you people still be playing it. If wow is causing you people to not upgrade your rigs, it just reinforces how wow is not good for pc gaming... It's not expensive to upgrade! This game will run decently on a pc with 3 year old parts... what are you people complaining for? Now I am not getting this game, the only reason i am posting here is when is see comments about how expensive it is to play games on pc and crap like that...people like that are the reason gaming has gotten so dumbed downed and how casual crap like the wii and 360 can sell... I miss back in the day when people where happy buying a voodoo2 sli just to play 3d accelerated quake... what happened to pc gaming culture since then? The reasons i am not getting this game, is the fact that I am done with mmos! After playing eq2, wow, lotro, vanguard, guildwars, AOC etc.. I realize that after i get to around level 30, i quit. Whats the point? It just a time sinc, and while your playing mmos, you miss out on all the great single player and multiplayer games out there. I love a variety not grinding the same dumb mobs day after day. And there is the realization that i can't stand arrogant, bastard pvp players in mmos. AOC taught me that. The grief, spawn camp, use exploits and cheat over and over again...its not fun when you get repeatedly killed when turning in quests by someone 2x your level....and warhammer is all about pvp...so no way. If i want pvp I'll go play some cod4 or tf2 on pc or warhawk, socom, or resistance on ps3...no more mmos for me! Bring on better single player role playing games with a good story and complex stat and equipment managment systems.
You don't have to do this!! This is an option..Its good to have options, you xbox people are just jealous that you don;t have options at all and have to take the high priced proprietary add ons ms sells you. The ps3 comes complete, add an extral hd, solid state or regular laptop hardrive is a perk, and advantage! Nobody is telling you to do this, nobody.. The ps3 is fast enough, this isn't a performance upgrade people, its new tech. come on...its good to have options!
After reading more comments, I am even more confused at some of your responses...I already mentioned my other things to (some) of you guys, but there are actually people on here that are afraid to install a new hard drive? A regular hard drive not solid state? You must be joking.... Its not hard to do, it won't break your ps3, its even in the damn ps3 instructions on how to do it. Grow some tech head knowledge and a spine, a hd installation is a piece of cake! Also load times are not long on a ps3, they are pretty reasonable in fact!
First off, most of you must be stupid or not tech savvy at all. This article is just informing you that their is the option of solid state drives for upgrading your ps3 hard drive, instead of a normal one. It doesn't say you have to do it, just that you can. Second why are you all getting pissed? No one is making you do this. Then you guys get mad that you can upgrade the hard drive at all...what you don't want to be able to have options? At least you can go to newegg.com and get any cheap hd you want and install it without voiding the warranty, unlike other consoles...cough..3fixme...cough.. Then you get mad that some games you have to install some stuff. but you say all games. Its not all games. And don't blame sony for that, its the devs decision to do it, not Sony's. That has been proven in interviews with both devs and sony, and Sony even said if they wanted to they could stop devs from having the power to do so, but guess what, who cares..your not installing 10gigs of game, gta4 is only a few gigs of install, the game itself is at least 15 gigs (if not more). Sony will be bring out more downloadable content, demos, movies, games, and origianl psn games. You will eventually need more space if you buy this stuff. Its a good thing having options. Some of you say it should of came with it to begin with... do you relize how expensive ss drives are? It says it in the article. Maybe its because I come from the pc world of gaming, that I like options. I am really glad I chose a ps3 for my console of choice over 360...I like options, I like choice, I like being able to install any hardrive that will fit and not voiding the warranty! I like having the option to plug in a usb keyboard and mouse, and install linux that was compiled for the console if I want to...All things the xcrapbox can't do...(although I would never do that, as I just hit a switch on my hd monitor and my 8800gts core2duo gaming rig replaces my ps3s game screen.) My point this is a good thing! And It will get cheaper! Stop whining. Having options is good!

Not only that, but I am a web tech and am going to night school for programming, can't do that on 360! Can t model, word process, encode/decode video music, make music, make machinima, surf the net, etc etc.
