You never know. I have one that was made in 2003 or so and it still works, but it is loud. I hade an elite that was made in 2007 which crapped out and stopped reading cd's.
I feel the same way. Over the last year or so the reviews have gone to crap and they can't even be bothered to review games until they have been out at least a week.
