343i should be deservedly punished for having the arrogance to gamble that their multiplayer mode could be finished and debugged whilst the campaigns were sent away to be put onto discs, boxed and distributed to stores. At cost to many people's monthly broadband download caps they gave themselves the luxury of a little extra time to complete the whole package. It clearly was not enough and I was suspicious when it asked me to have a second update to multiplayer before I was permitted to launch it an hour later than promised in my timezone. If both had shipped conventionally on disc they would have been able to delay release and ensure quality. I'd even have accepted it if the multiplayer modes rolled out in stages post-launch if it would have lowered the burden on their production teams.

That's useful information. Thank you. Hopefully matchmaking will be fixed by then. I did had two games in a row yesterday, but one was a 3v3 on Standoff (a large map) and the other was 8v8 on Assembly (a tiny map), so there is something wrong there!

I give it a 2 because I quite like the music on the title screen. Otherwise it is trash.

Only Halo Spartan Assault is worse.

I only bought it for Halo 3 multiplayer in 1080p60.

I think 6 is generous for an inauthentic product of unmerchantable quality.

I'd give it a 2 because I like the nice music on the title screen, nothing more.

Wednesday... what happens Wednesday? 343i bring out the actual version of multiplayer that we were supposed to have all along and it emerges that they were just messing with us? I don't think you have any conception about the complexities of software development, code maintenance, quality assurance and patching live systems and, unfortunately, it would appear neither do 343i

Save up and by the time you can afford to get it the price will have dropped and all the matchmaking problems ruining multiplayer should have been fixed - say January sales.

Not really. The maps aren't authentic, and each title's lobbies irritatingly mix gametypes. They should pare it down to unranked Slayer by title, letting people press (X) to Party Up and head across to Custom Games for all other gametypes. Given all the cheating going on with modded controllers, aimbots, lag switches and SCUF controllers this nostalgia trip does not need to reward these tryhards with a ranking system. Leave that for H5.

Gamespot reviewed what they had been given. If 343i aren't happy with a 6 then they should have done what Rockstar did with GTA V and release GTA Online separately as a free multiplayer mode a little while later, that way you get a score for the campaign that you know works and the faults in the Online add-on don't drag the review score down.

No. Rockstar released a broken GTA Online as a free companion game to GTA V just to avoid having it taint the review scores of its campaign / sandbox. 343i had the option to do the same and just release the Master Chief Collection campaign / forge / theater and everyone would have been a lot happier. They could then have taken their time to do a closed Alpha on each multiplayer mode and then got some constructive feedback, such as keep the maps authentic - rather than monkey around with the object placement on Narrows so that it is no longer symmetrical and I suddenly have to worry about invisible snipers - or to just have Social Slayer in each title of the collection to start off with as it makes no sense to Rank anyone when it might still be buggy. This would then mean I wouldn't have to encounter a weird mix of gametypes within the Halo 3 lobby, including stuff like Territories which could easily be accessed via Custom Games. After all, why do we even need to be Ranked a second time around, I've lost my 5-Star General Ranking as far as this collection is concerned and I'm buggered if I am going to make the same effort to gain it back all over again against a bunch of twelve year olds with those fancy SCUF controllers with paddles underneath. Can't I just relax and enjoy a good win for what it was without also being rewarded with Rank and XP? It would be sufficient to unlock achievements like Perfection again, so all 343i need to do is make one Ranked lobby for original Halo 2 maps and let everyone else press (X) to Party Up! migrating to the Custom Game for Infection, Territories, Flag Rally, Neutral Bomb, Juggernaut, CTF, Oddball, Hammerzeit, Grifball and many other community created gametypes which by their very nature cannot be Ranked. Just simplify the whole thing and tell players what the population is in each lobby.

Call of Duty Advanced Warfare lets me join a game in one second flat, works flawlessly and is a lot more fun than I ever expected it to be as I have always preferred Halo 3's pace - so when you see Gamespot give the Master Chief Collection an above average score identical to Destiny you can read the review properly and still buy it for the good aspects of the revamped campaigns, or you can spend your pennies on another game that gets a better score like Advanced Warfare to which they gave an 8
