I've noticed it to. Having just bought a PS3 last month, I noticed right off the bat that it was a lot more mature community. I think it's because the Playstation brand has been around for 15 years and those gamers that had a PS 1 are still buying Sony systems. I will say that Xbox Live is a better system as far as features and how it's standardized across the platform. However, the price of $60 is outrageous for what you get. Which is why I have jumped to the PS3 and won't be renewing XBL.
I like it. I don't mind not having a physical copy when I can re-download anytime I want. Plus no more lost CD keys or long install times. One thing that would be nice is if you could activate more retail games that you bought in the past before they appared on Steam. They allowed it with UT3, I wish they would with more games.
You'll have to part it out to maximize profit. eBay is a no go for exotic hardware. Try forums such as HardOCP and Andantech, you'll get a lot more takers there.
