I miss the old days where it would actually show you the location of the pitch if you guessed it correctly.  Made it much easier to walk ... I wish they would go back to that or at least make it an option ...

You can do that, change guess pitch to classic 1/4.

You're right, you are guessing. Everything? Really? Man you've got a poor memory, I'm not saying I've got a great one, but I went through silent assassin through blood money over the summer, and as long as you acted natural and didn't stand in front of their face for long periods, the guards in all those games didn't start whipping out the guns. Also, in blood money, you realise you had to hunt down those fools to get the disguises right, I assume disguises were nerfed so hard in this game because people were essentially cheating with walkthroughs and going "Damn, getting the disguise was too easy, lame" . The moral of the story, don't cheat at previous hitman games, you'll find them boring as hell.

The actual assassination areas are quite small most of the time, and a lot of the game is linear "hallways" of basic sneaking to get to those points. Basically, unlike blood money, you don't get full exploration of a fair size map and the current disguise system is less "hide in plain site" and more "if you have a disguise, play like you don't, except quickly hold the instinct button if anyone sees you in a disguise", yeah that's not hitman. The game pitches freedom all over the place, but there's definitely less freedom than blood money. Who knows though, you might still enjoy it, as I've said countless times, it's not a bad game, nothing special, but not bad, I give it a 7/10, but don't think "Well I enjoyed blood money, so I'm almost guaranteed to enjoy this". About contracts mode, well, it's quite limited, the more generic targets are just that, generic, they don't do much unlike a normal target. There's also no more smuggling weapons, 47 can put anything in his suit pockets now....yeah.

I'd say a 7.5 is just right for Hitman. The graphics and basic feel of the game are great, but I really wish I could skip some of the levels and nothing in it so far is living up to the highlights of Blood Money's levels (Such as suburbs or the casino)

That's just it, it's a good game (but nothing too special, hence it gets maybe a 7 from me), but it's not "Hitman".

I've played the first few levels (at the chinese new year part in chinatown) and am disappointed for sure. Are there any more open-ended levels like the other games?

bminns
Some, but most require you to go through a linear "hallway" of basic sneaking and semi-broken disguising before you get there, and quite a few of the open-ended areas are miserably small in comparison to previous incarnations.

I think you have to do the challenges in the notebook to get score modifiers to be able to get SA on some levels.

You know what's funny, a big part of this games advertising campaign was "Freedom of choice!", whereas it's previous installments had much more freedom!

All it needed was to be an updated version blood money with different levels, and it probably would've kicked ass and made dishonored look like a pathetic joke.

Depends, if you've played previous hitman's and expect more of the same, it's not there, probably best to look into it a bit more. If you haven't, well maybe you'll enjoy it for what it is.

This isn't at all like blood money, the game is now much more linear (with maybe 5 or so sections resembling a hitman game), and instead of promoting "hiding in plain sight" the game makes you avoid it, as disguises are so useless now, you still have to stealth around hiding on cover and stuff or you get quickly, and I mean quickly, busted, in a disguise! Basically, a disguise is only useful for giving you a few seconds of buffer, should you get seen....so explain to me what the point is?! Well it's still a decent stealth action game, it's not what you expect from a hitman game, it's like what metal gear acid is to metal gear solid!
