Thanks for the posts, I will call Sony in the morning. I have been searching all over and cannot find a solution online.
Hey guys,
I bought my PS3 just before Christmas last year, mainly as a Blu-ray player but also for a few games that I liked. It has worked fine until last week.
I got Lego Batman and have been playing it with my son when the screen blacks out and the game will no longer play. I can Quit the game but the player will no longer recongize any blu-ray disc. Matter of fact I get an error on movies "80029940 video cannot be played". Restarting the system seems to alleviate the problem with the player, but it comes back next time I play.
Anyone else have a similar issue? Right now I cant tell if its the disc or the system (of course now out of warranty). It would be odd for a disc to damage the player I would think.
I have checked the disc and no visible blemishes or scratches.
Over the weekend I picked up Team Fortress 2 and have had a blast playing the game.
I learned to setup up server filters so I dont have to pick through servers. However I have noticed that a number of the servers give me a message "Server did not respond". Does anyone know why this happens?
I wouldnt waste my money on that thing.
You will get 1080P gaming with component, just not DVD or HD DVD playback. You could always go VGA.
I just did a quick search on Amazon, and comprable TVs plasma still couple hundred more than a LCD. Now I am looking at name brands not off brands.
Why would you pay $80 for such a cable? Can it get around the DRM for DVD upscaling playback? The cable will be converting an analog signal from the xbox to a digital signal (HDMI), the source is still the analog signal, I doubt you will see much improvement in the PQ.
The only advantage I could see, is if they can trick the 360 into upscaling DVDs and playing HD DVD's at 1080P, otherwise waste of money.
[QUOTE="Blind-Future"]Ive played my 360 through Composite, Component, VGA and HDMI! My Toshiba WLT68i is properly calibrated and i can tell you HDMI is better. Its not a million times better but its certainly an improvement over VGA. Just because VGA looks better on your Polaroid TV, that from what you've said about it looking better than the other brands when you were in store, isnt even calibrated! Doesnt mean that VGA is overall better! Quit being ignorant and listen to what everyone in this thread has said!akuma303xgoogle vga vs hdmi 360 elite and get ready to be owned my friend. yes that is right. excessive testing proves i am right. so much in fact i am telling you to google it. 9 out of 10 sites agree. vga produces a better picture for games and lesser for movies and such. but read my origional post, i already said that. and the poloroid tv's are not a joke. they can produce some of the cleanest visuals of any lcd on the market. jsut cause it's name brand doesnt make it better.. in fact poloroid was a name band long before samsung and jvc and such. so i guess it's up to what you think. and yes the tv matters BUT WHEN THE HDMI IS AT A RESOLUTION UNDER THAT OF THE VGA, THE VGA WILL LOOK BETTER! wow who would of thunk it huh? and yes majority of people own an hdtv that is 720p. but shows a resolution max at like 1366x760. and for those who own these tv's the vga is very noticable in better quality than the hdmi. You can set the vga to 1366x720 on the 360 and yes it will look better than 1280x720.
You are kidding right? Most people have a hard enough time seeing the difference between 1080i/1080p and 720p and you are going to try and tell us you can see a distinct difference between 1366x720 vs 1280x720? Give us a break.
HDMI is a better connection because its digital and not subject to signal corruption like analog is. Just give it a rest this thread is a joke to say the least.
That doesnt even take into account that on most tvs VGA washes out the colors. Furthermore if VGA were a better connector you would find it on every television in the market, even computer monitors are moving away from VGA, I have had a monitor with HDMI ports for almost 3 years now. Any my current video card doesnt even have a VGA out on it, you have to use an adapter (which I would never do, digital to analog? no thanks).
